My fabulous ship
yo guys, I'm having a loll at this, I stopped playing wow for a while - 5 months to be exact and I get an email the other day that my wow password has changed - "whats this?" I think - initial thought? spam, but [email protected] is an actual email address so I tried logging in with a 5 day pass - no luck, I call blizzard tech support, 5 mins later I'm changing password and logging in.

well I must say our little hacker has been busy. all of my low level characters are now my high level characters and every character (lock, mage, rogue, death knight) are all above 70.... nice.... the best bit? each character has +2k in the bags lol! that's right! I was hacked and bot'ed my bags were full of mining stuff so I threw it on auction, bought epic mount and have a looooot of change ^_^
the bot'er also created a char on another server that I'm not gonna bother with, that has 2364g. lvl 75 death knight :p not gonna bother with that one tbh but it's all pretty funny to me.

Seems strange, I thought most of the time they just emptied your bags, vendored everything and then left the account raped. Still enjoy the spoils!

well thats handy, have to wonder how they came by your account.. if they saw it was inactive for some time then they probably thought it was safe for them to abuse themselves rather than just robbing the account before you can reclaim it

In most cases the accounts are used as long as possible to bot and farm gold for the gold sellers, until they're flagged and banned by Blizzard.

I got an even more awesome story about losing my WoW account.

It got hacked or stolen or whatever you want to call it, so I went through the process of sending of CD-Keys to try and get it back.

Whenver i got it back in a few days times i noticed that only trivial items like gems and stuff were taken from my bags, I had about 20k gold on it as well which was not taken. So I thought i would try and get the items that were taken, like gems and random items, whenever i logged back in after a couple of days i had loads of in game mail from blizzard.

They had sent me everything that was on the account, not just what was taken, so they effectively doubled my gold, lol, took me up to about 40k :P

Bushmins, your post included a link to a keylogger. Please do not post it again

He posted it in a thread about being hacked with an expanded email header, I'd hazard a guess he didn't know he was posting a link to a keylogger, if he did I'm sure he wouldn't have.

Also now for those who are less tech savvy won't know what to avoid.
I agree with the removal though, just saying he probably didn't even know.

What I am confused with is you removed the entire thing rather than edit it out and let the public see what to potentially avoid?
I know what to avoid but not everyone does, just like how bushmins here didn't know it was a bad url!

Do you agree?

I just hope someone doesn't think this as an advantage and freely let's their account be hacked to hope that they do the same for their own account.
