why don't Overclockers stock PC games?

Can you do this with L4D2?

You can do it with all steam games including steam it's self.

You can either back each game individually to disks (right click game in library and select back up) etc or you can just go to program files and copy the whole steam folder.

paste steam folder into new pc after reinstall etc and you don't evenm have to reinstall the games just run steam.

I still prefer buying, simple reason, my internet is slow.

So until we see a fair speed across the country for everyone, I'm stuck buying physical media. TBH though, I've paid my money I want access to the goods straight away. Not to wait a week for it to download before I can play.

usually get either a preload on steam before release day.

Or it takes 3-5 hours max to download which is way quicker than waiting for delivery :p

I still think I need a speed increase before I'd be converted. I'm sync'd at 3Mb and it's still painfull. :p

Games aren't going to be download only for a long time yet, to make it viable

-Consoles have to catch up and get more storage
-We need cable really
-We need unlimited bandwidth available to the masses
-Most households will need to be connected to the internet

Until then game retailers will always be selling discs, judging by how long it takes the UK to do anything and probably other countries and the economic downturn this is a long way off IMO, also it's more likely by the time we get to that point that we just play games directly from servers and stream the image to our tv's/monitors

They'll make discs for a long time. A lot of people still prefer buying a physical copy. Downside a lot of physical cases take up a lot of room. And whilst everyone doesn't have a super fast plus stable internet connection. Sometimes a downloaded version is out of the question.

can you do this with downloaded games? buy for say £20. play it. then sell it for £13 a few weeks later so it ends up only costing £7.

I could never see myself doing this. I have GTA4 on steam, I completed it when it in the weeks after it came out on the PC. I am currently playing through it again and enjoying every minute. I do the same with all my PC games I buy, recent ones including Mass Effect 2, Mount & Blade, Battlefield 2 Bad Company. Examples of old games that I have recently been replaying on steam include Deux Ex, KOTOR and Battlefield 2.

The only reason I can see for reselling a game is if you didn't like it or think it has no future replayability. However, if you buy games that you do like and are replayable then there isn't much point in reselling them.

I like having a physical item. Not for the practical reasons which can of course be overcome with faster broadband etc. I like having the box, with printed DVD and cover art as it gives me something for my money and feels nicer to own.

Plus selling on is a big plus, with console games I can play the single player and then sell the game for little to no loss. With PC DRM it is much harder at the moment, even with physical disks.

I get 3.5 Mb on average and I never have a problem downloading from steam

Just start the download before you go to bed and it will be ready for you the next day. Or let it download in the background while doing something else. You only have to wait a few hours! Impatient, boy! :p

plus theres no way they can compete with steam direct 2 drive and eadm

Steam games are often more expensive than retail. I would doubt a company like play would agree with you on that statement.

P.S. Before anyone comments , I buy retail and off steam so I'm not biased to any in particular! :p

I'm getting sick of seeing games shops not stocking PC Games anymore. Grainger games up here in Cramlington had 0 PC games in. Fek em i say!

Consoles are pants! I still don't know why to this day why i bought an xbox 360, biggest waste of money ever. game control is just poo!

I try not to buy off steam etc as i like to have something physical for my money.. I do sometimes buy cheapo games off there like Torchlight etc..
