so in a few days i'm going to be going to china.

the flight is a two-legged flight. one flight to amsterdam, then from amsterdam to shanghai. whilst at amsterdam however, there is a small stop over,

i think it is only 5 hours, but a friend of mine is taking an early flight to amsterdam, and hers is a 9 hour stop over.

my question to you is...

can we leave the airport to take a look around amsterdam? or are we stuck in the airport for such a long time??

I wouldn't risk it with only five hours, in case you miss your connecting flight!

Slighty OT, but where did you get your Visa for China and how much did you pay, and how long did it take for the passport to come back?

I am not sure, had a similar wait in amsterdam when I flew to China. I personally dont think you can leave the airport you just go straight through into the other departure lounge, but as I said, I didnt really try too leave. I always assumed once you were in the departures lounge you can't leave and come back through.

I guess you are flying with KLM tho? My flight to China was empty so had a row of 4 seats to myself which made the journey fly by! Hopefully it will be the same for you!

When I went to China is was £99 for the visa, from Chinavisas.com or something like that. it took about 3 weeks to come back

Its easy to leave Schiphol airport.

Train station underneath will take you to Amsterdam.

Takes around 20 mins, and you arrive in a good spot.

I left once going from Bristol to Chicago.

er it cost me around £90 when you include fees. its a one entry visa, you can get it in either Manchester or London from the Chinese consulate, or you can do it via post, but it costs more. I did this, it took around 5 days to get it back.... (which is a lot quicker than 3 weeks)
