Does anyone know if the E60 is meant to light up it's hazards under heavy braking (like emergency stop)?

I don't want to go out and randomly test

Thanks

No it isn't.

I think Brake Force Display was optional (perhaps standard on later models?), where extra brake lights come on under heavy braking.

It's a very good idea. Despite popular opinion, we do display some good driving standards in this country, and one of them is hazards on hard braking. I spend a lot of time driving on motorways, and come to complete stops usually several times a day. Coming around a bend to a wall of hazard lights increases the room you have to brake in, reducing the abruptness of your braking, and helps prevent an increasingly sharpening braking effort flowing back through traffic, until it comes to the point where someone can't manage to stop in time.

I just remember seeing an E36 M3 loose it on a wet corner once and as it flew off in to the field its Hazards came on. I thought "hmm, he's good"

Actually, that aside, on the TV this morning was a MK6 Golf doing wet distance stops with two types of tyre (contis and imports). The hazards lit up under heavy braking.

Ours doesn't. I had to push the brake pedal as far as it would go at 125 when some numpty pulled out on me on ze autobahn. The ABS kicking in certainly made it a heart-in-mouth moment :o

Why do you ask?

I have no idea, but I found out (by accident) yesterday that you can wind down all of the windows by pressing and holding the unlock button on the key, and then close them all again by pressing and holding the lock button.

I like this feature, it means I can close the window when my girlfriend mentions she's left it open when we're already 20 metres from the car :p

All AFAIK

On the E60 it does additional brake lights under heavy braking (which are actually the rear fogs) instead on hazards.

In a crash it'll automatically put the hazards on, and send the car/accident details (inc GPS) to the emergency services and BMW UK, and unlock the doors, and detonate that explosive thing to disconnect the battery lead.

i've only seen it once out and about and that was last week as a numpty in a merc veered from lane 2 onto a slip dropping down to a roundabout.
It did a great job of highlighting his idiocy!

Really? That's pretty impressive :)

Even my mondeo manages that one! :p

Sounds good, but surely you wouldn't want the emergency services notified in every situation, would you?

Why not? If you've crashed it's hardly a bad thing, unless you have something to hide (drunk?). It makes a call at the same time over the handsfree kit anyway so you could tell the operator to go away and they won't do anything.
