Macbook Pro - buy now, or wait?

You only need to logout. An OS X reboot is not necessary on the MacBook Pro.
I stand corrected... used to be a reboot I think.

Still a really messy solution.

I have a load of apps open.. and I want to play a game... so I need to close down all the apps, log out, log back in, re-open my apps and reset all the context to where I was. Can't see Steve liking this ....

I highley recommend the 15" Pro. I got the 2.8Ghz with matte screen. I use it for adobe products and web design. Also a load of HD editing works a dream.

I got a review of it on my site. www.softpages.co.uk

I bought my 13 Macbook Pro back in January and people then were saying an update was coming anyday, You can sit and wait forever!

There really should be one any day, they're being far outpaced by £450-500 i3 based laptops (2.13ghz i3, 3gb ram, 320gb HDD Sony Vaio for £490 etc.)

I hope so too 'cos I want one with an i3/i5.

Yep even with the whole form over functionalty department, I cant see anyone being too happy to see the gap between the 'cheap' i3 laptops and the current MBP range. Just hope this wait means the 13.3" is refreshed too - matte screen would be epic for me...

ps3ud0

I'd bet on next week myself, just after my 14 day return period expires, would make perfect sense! I'm not too bothered though, it's lightening fast as is (with 8GB and a x25M SSD) and I'm not using it as a workstation at the end of the day

Just seen this on Mac Rumors:

9 to 5 Mac reports that it has received word from a tipster claiming that Apple is set to be released as soon as tomorrow, although the launch may be delayed until next Tuesday. The report follows an earlier claim of new Mac Pro models set for launch next Tuesday. According to the source:The MacBook Pro will be released on the same day as Mac Pro. We are scheduled for a Friday morning release but with the amount of updates may be pushed to Tuesday. ipad is number 1 and everything else is as time permits. Look for i5 in base macbook pro with i7 in higher end 15 and 17 inch.
9 to 5 Mac offers no assessment of the reliability of the source, and rumor sites frequently receive incorrect information from sources claiming to be in the know. Consequently, we currently view this report with considerable skepticism pending additional information.

The MacBook Pros were last updated in June and are due for a refresh. Evidence of a Core i7-based MacBook Pro surfaced in Geekbench's results just over a month ago, and a number of other reports of new machines appeared in subsequent weeks. The rumor mill has been relatively quiet for the past couple of weeks, however, despite considerable interest in and expectation of updated models.

I really want a Macbook Pro, but don't really have a reason for buying one :(

MacRumors said:
Update: 9 to 5 Mac now reports that the cited source may have been a hoax, although it notes that it has received multiple tips of a MacBook Pro release in the very near future.

Its frustrating, I'm just hovering between buying a new well specced MBP on release day or upgrading my desktop to gulftown then probably a 480 GTX. The longer I wait the more likely I am just to spend the money on the desktop.

The thing I want to know is why are Apple so good at preventing leaks?, If they are about to release a new product surely there must be loads of people in the production and supply chain who would know?. Every other manufacturers products have little snippets leaked all the time.
