Am i playing Final Fantasy VIII correctly?

When using a GF, if one kills all the enemies at the same, then all 3 members of the party in battle should get the same amount of EXP. If certain characters use normal attacks and kill that respective enemy, then they themselves will get slightly more EXP in the results screen.

Drawing is VERY important in this game and whilst it can be tedious, it is useful for getting new magic spells, especially once the enemies have leveled up a lot more or capturing new GFs from certain bosses i.e. Siren GF from that flying boss on the Dollet Tower mission.

Do remember also to go into the GF menu screen and make sure that each of them learn the correct abilities, whether it is to boost their HP, their attack power, Boost ability itself (Very important and useful), and of course learnign the ability to junction magic to a characters statistic slot. One very useful example is when you can junction Death magic to a character's Status Attack slot, it will be almost instant death for a lot of enemies (Like a T.Rex) assuming they are not immune to it.

Squall's R1 Trigger in battle is gimmicky, but it is a critical hit everytime so always use that for slightly extra damage.

To use Limit Breaks as many times as you want, if there is a character who is in the yellow for their health, keep spamming the change character button (I think it's Triangle) until the *ding* sound and the arrow appears. Very useful in tough fights.

If you miss out on any GFs and cannot get them anymore, well to spoil it for you, you can acquire them all again but this is only near the end of the game and may be a little difficult.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Well i've managed to get Cerberus, so glad i didn't give up, the triple is so useful for cures, haste and curas.

Another question regarding members.

Should i try and level everyone up, or should i just stick to 3 or 4?

Currently i always go off with Squall, Zell and Rinoa, leaving Quistis, Selfie and Irvine to stay at level 19.

Is it useful to try and level them all up?

Currently i've just completed disk 2, and Rinoa is in some kind of coma, so i have to use a different member now.

it doesnt really matter about levelling the ones you dont use much becuase if the game makes you switch to a weak member you can just do a junction exchange from the good one thats not in the party :)

I do that already, but doesn't the extra xp help in some way?

Like better use of magic and a higher hp?

And should i have one member have the ability Item, instead of Draw?

Because i'm finding silence to be nuisance, and i always forget which magic can cure it.

i remember sometimes missing on the renzokuken and raging lol may have to get this off psn :D

Do it, it's only £7.99 and it's a great little game.

First FF i've got into and i'm really enjoying, hopefully i'll get this completed and move onto FFXIII when i get back to London.

if you miss the renzokuken just keep hitting triangle untill it appears :)

yeh its worth buying on the psn especially if you have a psp as it looks sweet on the wee screen.

on a side note i just recently played it again and this time went through the game with out using a single gf attack , low health, renzokuken and meltdown for massive damage against bosses :) especially with the draw and junction system :)

You went through the whole game?

Impressive, i hardly ever use the limit breaks.

How long did that take you?

I'm 32 hours in and just started the 3rd disk.

I assume you opened the lamp? ;)

I have, and i got him with a little struggle :)

He's pretty weak though, only level 9 so far, gotta use him a bit more.

And i managed to get Alexander from Edea, so glad i read up on GF's beforehand, wouldn't have known i could draw GF's from other people

I remember using the lamp as soon as I got it, and I died over and over and over. I eventually pipped on and used Diablos' own gravijas against him and it worked a treat. Getting a powerful guardian force that early on in the game does wonders for you.

My last play through i diddnt lvl any of my chars up once. As enemies lvl up with you its possible to simply draw and junction magic to boost your stats to defeat the bosses.

Makes things pretty interesting and the fight against Omega took forever :(

The way to exploit the game is to level up to the point where you can draw the highest tier of magic from enemies then stop, then you have really high stats and the enemies are weak :p

I never did it though, power levelled when I played.

Personally i have always preferred setting up the best junctions etc, with the correct junctions on disc3 you can just attack and a hit for 9999 on pretty much ever boss. The only exception is Eden which is worth it for the laugh of doing 30k damage or so

Probably the only place i can say this, but i just raped a goat for 200 curas :)

Lovely mountain goat, so weak and puny, but full of the good stuff

Any idea where i can find the white boat? It's supposed to be near centra, but i have no idea where centra is?

Centra is the brown muddy land around the bottom center area of the world map. As mention above, it's where Edea's house is and where there is that Centra Ruins tower for where you fight against the dreaded Tonberries, 20 or so in a row I think in order to grab Tonberry GF, and where you also fight against Odin, non-GF but if you defeat him, he will randomly appear in battle to help you.
