i got my shares pay out comming up soon and i want to upgrade the car with the money, currently got a 1.25 fiesta LX mk6 which is great for me at the moment as its used just to toddle back and forth to work. quite like the 225 because it still a 5 door so getting the little one in her baby seat wont be a problem and its still a nippy car, seen one for £5500 *with selling my car privately or trading in* for a 06 plate with 27000 on the clock, any thing i should look out for on these cars thou ?

The early 225's were pretty rubbish if I recall. £5500 would be better spent on a Type R or a Clio 172/182.

The 225 is better for the "little one" though. 5 doors, bit less "extreme" than a CTR, 182 et al.

It will be worth 35 pence within a year though, that's the main cost. :p

Given that an 06 225 with 27k on is worth about 8 grand I suspect what you have found is far from legit.

£5500 that i would be paying out from my shares, would be trading my car in aswel *insert own prices for a 2004/05 plate fiesta LX with 33k on the clock*

First thing I thought, that's far too cheap.

So why tell us you have found one for 5500?

because i didnt put in my OP that i would be trading/selling my car aswel, so £5500 would be how much i would be paying minus what ever i get for my car *give or take a few £ as i havent checked prices on my current car*

Is it a cup or non cup?

If its the former then it may not be the best car to use as a family car. The suspension is very firm (rear especially) and the ride is compromised because of it.

If its the non cup then it will be a lot better (in terms of ride confort) although the handles suffers as a consequence (the cup goes beyond just stiffer suspension).

For reference (and assuming the car is standard) you can tell the cup straight away by the anthracite multispoke wheels.

If the firm ride does not bother you or the car is a non cup then its a decent car although watch out for the usual electrical gremlins and in later cars coil pack issues (the R26 I had suffered badly from this).

Have you looked at alternatives?
