Railway Crossings..

Was in Wokingham earlier piking my brother-in-law up from the station (coming from Barkam side for those that know Wokingham) and the lights came on so I stopped and some moron behind started beeping his horn at me shouting that I had plenty of time and to go.

I hate going over level crossings completely so would never even attempt to take a chance running the lights.

Thats far too complicated given one train could be travelling at 125mph and the next 50mph.

Time taken to travel between marker A and B before the crossing = calculates the speed the train is going and when to put the barrier down.

You have to be a complete moron to jump any warning signals mind!

I hate going over them when it's green to go......there is only one near here and it's in Motherwell. It's so close to the station most trains are going slow but is is used for freight so I imagine people have to wait quite a long time for one of them to pass!

""This is a crime of a serious nature, far more dangerous then running an ordinary red light," said Mr Brown.

who then promptly gave him a TS10 and 3 points just the same as any ordinary red light offence and sent him on his way. That'll learn him :/

Mr. Brown was the prosecutor, he does not decide the sentence. Nor, for that matter, the charge. The magistrate, meanwhile, can only punish according to the conviction obtained.

It's a really badly designed crossing. Who decided a roundabout there was good idea. People queue up on the crossing, never a bright idea!

Someone died at the Waterloo Road crossing in Wokingham on Saturday.

My view is we shouldn't stop them, let natural selection take place the world will be better off without them.

Unfortunately their stupidity impacts more than just them; the train driver, train passengers, anyone else in the car. And not just from a "My train's hit someone", "My journey is delayed" standpoint, a car on the track could derail the train and kill other people.

The reason for them being half gated is for the emergency services.
Rising bollards is a good idea in theory, but sometimes when there is a 3-4 minute wait before a train, the person in the ambuklance could have died.

I agree with an insta-ban for level crossign related retards.

Its a shame really but perhaps its a price worth paying for a couple of years.

Worst designed crossing I've ever seen, the probelm is theres not quite enough room to sit at end of the orad without being slightly under the barrier. Worst I've seen was a lorry waiting, red lights came on and no-one would let him go. He must have needed to change after that.

Yeah I heard about that, I was coming out of Heathlands Road when the police were closing the Waterloo Road, didn't find out what it was until Monday.

Our town is surrounded by a train track, so it is a nightmare in rush hour. If the lights go on (orange light or just started flashing red) I always cross over.

Never have I ran them when the gates start going down. Call me whatever, the council are too tight to build a bridge / tunnel and I can't be doing with a 5min journey taking 30min.
