I'm currently using onboard 5.1 via my shuttle but I am not liking it. I miss the X-fi tbh. But I do remember having a few issues with the software on win7. Just wondered if anyone else has one working fine?

Mine works a treat, when the computer has been on for weeks the sound will start to destort and get echo(ey) and fuzzy, a reboot cures it though. (Only happened twice)

My Xtremegamer worked fine on Win7 64, I didn't try the official drivers but was using the Pax X-FI driver set.

I'm now using an XtremeMusic on Win7 64 and am using the official creative drivers without any problem.

I found on my Prelude that official drivers don't get CMSS-3D (speaker or headphone versions) working properly in Windows 7. I've seen people with Creative X-Fis report the same thing.

A switch to Daniel K support pack drivers cured it it both cases.

My xtremegamer has always worked fine on in Win 7. Had problems with Vista as I was an early adopter, but been fine for a long time.

i just put my extreme gamer back in my rig same problems for me

after about 20 mins use the sound will cut out or distort really badly requiring a reboot, after which it will be fine.

But on a cold boot it lasts roughly 20 mins then needs to be rebooted again.

Im on Windows 7 64

my onboard X-Fi MB works fine tho, however since getting Bad company 2 the dedicated card makes a massive difference. i jsut have to reboot before i start playing any games.

im using the ofiical creative drivers + there is a fix listed which i applied.

May I ask why you went from the gamer to the music?

Because I wanted to mod it (change out opamps..etc), and the Gamer uses a non-standard opamp package while the XtremeMusic uses the SOIC8 package.

Stock vs stock there's not any difference if that's what you were getting at.

Gamer and Music are practically the same card but Gamer is low profile.

Gamer Fatality has more XRAM and is full height.

Music actually lets you plug in a digital connection plus the mic at the same time. Big design flaw on the gamer IMO.

Is that part of the "Line In / Microphone In / Optical Out* (shared 3.5mm FlexiJack)" from their website??

Is it ok though for analogue and microphone?

edit: this is in relation to the gamer...thanks.

The gamer is OK for analogue and microphone. You can't, for example, have digital out to a receiver and mic in at the same time though.

Im using windows 7 and were just craving for X Fi sound when I just started playing Red Alert 3. I would have liked the X Fi gamer, but I only have free PCI-E slots, so I decided to get the OEM Titanium card.

Are there any issues with this card and Win 7? Hopefully it will work, I miss my X Fi Elite Pro, but I dont have PCI slots anymore. I were itching to get the non Fatality Titanium for ages and decided to go ahead and get one.

My extreme music is working fine on Windows 7 64Bit and has been with all but the very first Win 7 driver (which had some pop/crackle issues) but thats all gone with any drivers since.

I was looking through the creative forums and came across some alternative drivers from a guy named Daniel K these were dated newer than the official creative ones.

Since installing them I have had none of the issues I had with the creative ones. No crashing or sound screeching etc.

Which is a relief as i was considering buying a new sound card after just shelling out on some HD 595 Headphones :P

:)

Now why Creative don't seem to be able to sort out their own drivers, but a modder can do it, I'm not sure.

Except Daniel K was threatened with legal action by creative and his drivers are no longer available.

My X-fi elite pro worked fine on Vista. If the Titanium doesnt work on Win 7, I'll have to return and get a Xonar DX2, but I want full hardware EAX 5.0.

My enjoyment of Red Alert 3 is suffering greatly without X-Fi sound, my card wont be here until monday :(.

Thats the same boat I were in. I sold my top end PCI one after I got my X58 mobo and having no more PCI slots, and have been using onboard for ages, but its really nowhere near as good as my sound used to be with the X-Fi. I've been wanting to get the X-Fi titanium for some time, but I always put it off saying my onboard is fine because I didnt want to pay so much for it.

Then I go and get a game that sounds absolute pants with the onboard sound and I spotted the OEM X-Fi Titanium.

I were cheeky enough to keep Cubase LE when selling my X-Fi pro, so I didnt actually lose much money as I got £180 for it second hand for everything except for the CDs, and whoever bought it didnt even notice the lack of Cubase which was worth the difference over getting one brand new :).

I miss the external amp box very much though, Ive been waiting for a PCI-E version of the X-Fi Professional, but it never happened.

You're about 2 years behind the times. Daniel K and Creative are on good terms again and he's churning out support packs every couple of months on their official forums.
