Dont Forget VXR Track Day Tickets on Sale Tomorrow

Croft looks OK to me, flat but fast enough I should think. Some chuckable areas from what I can see on youtube. Not too long too so we could get quite a few laps in.

Do they do any timing etc or is that forbidden to prevent heorics?

Guys I am super excited about this now.

TBH I'm also looking forward to hooning any VXR also, as it'll be my first time doing it on the safe confines of a track ^_^ not gonna stand and wait long for the Insignia

Got an AMG Experience at Mercedes World for my birthday too, so I'm also looking forward to hooning a 600bhp Supercharged V8 AMG something like a loon for an hour sometime soon :D

Can you let me know if this is any good? It's like 10 minutes away from me and it's always advertised in Autocar and looks pretty cheap.

Will do, I'm told it's pretty good though, i.e. they let you drive the cars quite hard  It's only about 3 miles from me :D

That's pretty cool

need to improve my cornering from last year. Was getting my braking all wrong and not hitting the apex's correctly, hence why my lateral Gs were a bit low.

Also need to learn not to grab hold of the steering wheel like im holding on for dear life and relax :D

On the contrary i should think.

I'm fairly sure that a normal trackday would be no where near as good value. Think about tyres, brakes, petrol, a service on your car and wear and tear. Oh and the cost of the track time.

These VXR trackday events are stupidly good value IMO.

Better, faster cars. Better tuition. More track time. :p

I went last year so not *too* fussed about missing out - I preferred the VXR8 to any of the cars although I wanted to spend a bit more time in the Astra this year.

No doubt the VXR day is great value for money though, but it's not the end of the world!

i've never driven RWD before and thoroughly embarassed myself on the wet handling circuit with the VXR8 (only available at rockingham). Couldnt control the slide at all, so i went out on track very nervous !

Yeah, it's quite important to keep a relaxed grip, if you cling on tight you tend to miss out on the crucial feedback. Well that's the theory anyway, let's see how I put it in practice, I don't fancy a trip into the kitty litter :p

i was too busy concentrating on my lines and braking last time. Wasnt untill the instructor pointed it out i noticed my knuckles were practically white !

It is quite a steep learning curve if you're not that experienced, getting used to the car, the track etc. I found I was ok after a couple of laps though. I had a habit of leaning forward (when concentrating I guess?) slightly too which I managed to correct by the end of the day! Was quite happy with that.

anyone get the grandad instructor last year? i swear he was in his 70s, bit of a legend! he could hardly see out the window! :D

i had one serious instructor who proper had a go at me when i tried overtaking in the wrong place in the '8!! that was my first lap ha!

all the rest were young and a right laugh. i did a proper dodgy overtake later on with one of them, we both just looked at eachother and cracked up! :D

he then opened his window and had half his body hanging out (whilst im still gunning it) to give his mate in the Astra following the thumbs up on what just happened! was an epic moment ha, we literally were in tears ha

You hooligan you!

Most instructors were great. Had one very serious guy though telling me what I had learned from teh others was wrong and his lines were better.

But for me the 7+ laps with one instructor because he was bored of switching people and was happy with teaching me was the highlight. Got to learn a lot more here than just a couple of laps.
