Hey I was wondering if it would be better to get x2 ATI Radeon 5850's or just 1 5970. It is £100 cheaper for the x2 5850's but what is better or is there any cons going with crossfire?

This is for the new system I am going to build in early April. I might also wait the new Fermi cards as well but I would like to know which is better between the ATI cards :)

what ever is cheaper, i doubt there any cons as 5970 is probably hotter then two 5850 in crossfire , also 5850 will overclock quite well not like 5970

man firtst of all 5970 is dual 5870 not 5850

it has 3200 stream process 5970 only had downclocked gpus for lower tdp

5970 after some driver fixes will outperfom even 5870 CS

'Will outperform even 5870 CS' < No chance.

So your saying the 5970 would be worth the extra £100?

x2 5870 is about £600+ So I am guessing the 5970 is much better value...

go for 5970 and u wont think about update min 2 years

will play everything maxed out

accelero will release soon it cooling for 5970 and u will be able to oc it easily

as me i have 285 now and waiting for fermi if fermi will deliver or outperform 5870 + 20 percent then i will go for fermi if it wont i ll get 5970
