*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Should I stick with this guys? I'm about 4 hours in and really not enjoying the story. I love Final Fantasy games normally because of their story but just not feeling any attachment to the characters in this one.

Does it get considerably better or am I best just biting the bullet and accepting this game isn't for me?

Read some of the Data entries that you get on the menu, fleshes out the story more. If you still don't like it then I guess it's not really for you :(

But it's still worth giving it a little more time.

Chapter 7 15hours in, Thou i found certain enemies in this chapter love to use gattling gun attack which screws you over instantly =(

POSSIBLE SPOILER

If you switch to Sentinel with Snow and cast Steelguard just as you see 'Gatling Gun' pop up, that'll stop most of the damage.

/POSSIBLE SPOILER

As my first contribution I'd just like to say this game is awesome, was expecting far worse with all the reviews but I honestly don't mind the one track path.

And just beaten Odin first try, was an interesting one! :D

Things really do pick up after ch11 its a much more open and freeform game now, some of the baddies like the adamantoises OMG long way of beating them i just run away from everything that isnt a flan!

I am half way through chapter 9 now, and almost 24 hours in, so the second disk is about 16 hours compared to the 9 the first one took, not bad :)

**** IT!

Battling a boss for the last 20 mins at least only to die via the doom status when I could taste victory.

If it's the one I think it is then here's a tip.

DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT HELP WITH A BOSS.

Use Lightning/Fang/Hope and toss a librascope, it gets all info on all monsters.

1. Nuke down the 4 caster things with a mixture of Commander/Sentinel/Healer and Ravager/Sentinel/Ravager, start with the first to get the increase break time then swap and rip on them with whatever spell they are weak against, whenever you get low, switch to the first and heal up, using the commander to keep the break gauge up.

2. When they are dead, break the boss and summon something, don't expect to break him again, you won't, or at least I never managed it, his special charge ability wipes Break.

3. When boss uses his charged up ability, switch to Commander/Commander/Ravager and just rip on him until he groans, that means his ability will do less damage.

4. For the most part use Commander/Commander/Healer and Commander/Sentinel/Healer if you get into trouble, your commanders will do much more physical damage to the main guy than your ravagers will do magical.

Make sure you have aegisol up at the start at least, if not make sure you have a synergist put shell on everyone for the first part.

The fight took me 16 minutes in total.

Isnt it wierd how some people have bother with different bosses? Ive gotten stuck on two only for google to throw up no similar posts of woe. However the boss you mention above and bahumut are two that are moaned about and i had no trouble on at all lol wierd shows how good the battle mechanic is though

Definitely worth taking into account the power of your groups sab and syn too. I kept myself fully buffed while the monster was debuffed and it took 11.5 mins having staggered him twice. If you can get the jump on him by empowering your team and reducing his power you can ultimately beat on him with minimal healing.

I reccomend libra on each 'head' too as you start attacking them so you can drop them efficiently ASAP. Seemed preferable to me using the 5 TP that way than wasting it on a summon - which seem to be more meatshield than DPS.

dont know about you guys but that ODEN *doom* was freakin hard untill you understood what to do lol but still sheesh lol everything was a breeze untill i met it heh
