The other day I took my '03 18 petrol Mondeo for a service and MOT. They changed the anti-roll bar, and did the usual service stuff.. now, when I put my foot down, I occasionaly get judders - it feels like I'm in too low a gear, as if it's thinking about stalling, but this happens in all gears when accelerating. It's intermittent, so I can't replicate it, but every now and then I get the judders when getting the car up to 30.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

My mondeo started doing this recently, and it does it far more than it used to when I lift off as well. I'm just putting up with it atm, not sure what the cause is

Could be a misfire. Did it never do this before service?

Did they happen to change the spark plugs when it went in? If so, my guess is that they've used the wrong sort of plugs/not put them in properly.

I had a similar problem with the same car and it turned out to be the coil pack.

With your problem starting after a service it'll be worth looking at the spark plugs as Gaygle suggested.

My first guess would be spark plugs not gapped correctly.

Second would be worn leads/coils finally giving up when being disturbed during plug change.

Cheers guys, I'll check the spark plugs tomorrow.

I assume it's an easy peasy job to do myself to just remove and refit them? Bear in mind I know virtually nothing about car mechanics :P

If you know absolutely nothing about cars, and aren't very mechanically minded, then.. it's a little more complicated than changing a fuse or checking the oil :)

Maybe just take it back to the place that serviced it and tell them the problem?
