New To Building Desktops, What Do I Need?

Thanks i will add that to my set up.
is there anyway to add things to a Basket and save it?
so that i dont have to add all the things every time i think about changing things

If you sign up to the site and log out/log in it should all stay there.
Does for me anyway (though that could be my browser setup) :P

Right this is the set up i have decided upon and wondering what do you guys think of it?

MyDeskTop-2.jpg

and i have decided to get the LG W2486L-PF Monitor and altogether i am looking at a total cost of about £800-£850 what do you guys think?

also i was thinking about replacing the LED fans with either : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-052-AK or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-003-AK and was wondering would this work? i would ONLY be replacing the LED fans that come with it and maybe add a 3rd onto the side compartment on the see-through section of the case

Yes i know, i am getting one dont worry :)
i saw a video where someone with the same case replaced ALL fans by LED ones
is there any major difference between the fans that come with the Case
that are NOT the LED ones when comparing them with LED Fans such as the 2 i listed above?

Fans that come built into a case are perfect to be honest. They arent the BEST but you dont need the best unless you are a serious overclocker.

mainly want to replace for the look of the LED Fans :)
can you buy the LED Fans that come with the case separate?
i tried looking for red LED Fans but couldnt find them

Right so anyone see any way i could improve the above specs?
i could add about another £150 to the total cost if i can get better parts and performance from it, thanks to it being my Birthday Soon :)

If not then i will be buying this setup within the week :)

Could always go for a better gpu like maybe a 5850 or even a 5870 at a push. If you don't need the extra gpu power you could consider the i5 route. Or the third option would be to save the £150 and spend it on beer ;)

Looks solid to me!
As for the fans go it's just an asthetic choice really. You can get plenty fans to replace the case ones so long as they're an acceptable size for the case (some cases even allow for installation of larger fans than they come with for better flow).

While on the subject actually; my CPU cooler allows fitting of extra fans - surely it'd be fine to add an LED fan to it, right? I reckon it'd look awesome to have a glowing blue cooler haha :D

would i see much improvement using a i5 over the current selected?
and i would have to change the Motherboard? what would be the best CPU + Motherboard selection for the price of the 2 i have selected give or take an extra £50 or so.

As for GPU i have had a quick look but they seem to be like £200+ extra compared to the current one i have selected - i am not sure if i can go that far. i think the GPU is like £130 so about £170-£200 total would be as far as i could go and i would like the option to go down the SLI / CF route in the future with what ever card that i decide to pick

So looking at the fans the Case has the following :

- Front Cooling: 140mm intake fan (included)
- Top Cooling: 140mm exhaust fan (included)
- Rear Cooling: 120mm exhaust fan (included)
- Side Cooling: 2 x 120mm intake fan (optional)

which of these are LED? i heard / read that 2 of them are LED, thats right correct?
where could i get LED fans of the above sizes, i would only have 1 of the side cooling fans as i think the rest should be enough. i would like the Fans to be the same colour and i am thinking about White, Black case and White fans will look great i think :)

You can get a 5850 for £220 so thats an extra £90 out of your extra £150. 5870s are more expensive, the lowest i can see one for is about £280-£290 so that will bring you in at probably just over your extra £150 slightly.
An i5 setup is easily doable with an extra £150 and will give you slightly better performance. However you may lose out in terms of future upgradability compared to am3.

How much performance boost will i see from going from the 5770 to the 5850? is it CF compatible?
yeah been liking the info read about the 5870 - shame about the price, its not CF though is it? heard that it cant be used in CF system, might be wrong though

As for the CPU + Motherboard, i would prefer something that has a good solid way of upgrading in the future and not have to spend so much on a new Motherboard as well as CPU

what Motherboard and CPU do you think would compare performance and upgradbility wise compared to the currently selected Asus Motherboard and Quad?
