I despair of the Human Race...

rarely have I ever considered killing people, but I would have no hesitation in killing all those who participated in this horrific abuse.

And those cops have some answering to do. But, hey, lets refer ourselves to the IPCC where we can get away with 17 years of negligence of the highest order.

Bloody sickening.

Awful response from the police too, just simply passing the buck to the council. He was gravely let down by the people that are meant to protect him, this happens too often - once is too often.

Scum of the earth those people. A real shame.

And even though I usually have respect for the police, I include them in this case with your phrase "scum of the earth".

And the false platittudes from the neighbours. He was really friendly, he would help me with his shopping.

Blah blah ****ing blah. How about you ****ing help him then.

Chavs at their finest.

The problem is that there isn't enough accountability in these people. The police and the law exists to protect our rights in society but those same laws handcuff them in what they can do to prosecute. It's what gets me about people in these forums and elsewhere - constant bandying of the phrases "we need to protect our rights" and "yet another example of the government trying to take away our freedom". It does no good when the worst that can happen to these yobs is an ASBO... Don't do it again or... um... well... just don't!

No surprises why it doesn't work.

No, they are totally different tangents. I am worried about the abuse and spread of police powers, but I fail to see how even in my own "paranoid" mind, it would have prevented the cops from dealing with this.

What a shame, I'd hate to see this happening near me.

When i do see trouble, I often wonder how police are supposed to deal with it.
A gang of 10 chavs, All under 16 all drinking and all aggressive.

Other than saying naughty boys! and taking them home. What can they do.

I would like to think that lesson would be gained from this. However, I suspect all that will happen is a new form will be created somewhere or some training program invented to demonstrate how they are doing something but nothing actually will be done and such problems will still not be addressed and continue for other people who should be protected.

The cops have very few powers over minors.

I think the law needs changing, any kid over the age of 6 knows the difference between right and wrong. If they are too stupid to understand or just don't care and break the law then they should be prosecuted. Young offenders institutes are a must, lets arrest them, re-educate them and try to sort the modern problem with young groups of yobs!

I remember my granddad telling me about his childhood, they used to steal gates and apples, the police would get them, give them a slap and drag them home by the ear. Shame they can't do similar now.

Police are only interested in meeting targets, you can't arrest a kid for asking for a cigarette so the police are unwilling to do anything about anti-social behaviour. For info asking for a cigarette becomes anti-social when they're doing it repeatedly and with menace.

If they couldn't stop the abuse they should have moved somewhere more suitable. No one should ever have to endure 20 years of insecurity and harassment in their own home.

He looks such a friendly guy too :(

Then no-one will be able to work due to criminal records and we really are screwed if that happens.

It always has been pretty much. 150 years ago he would've been left to rot in some loony bin, or out in the street begging.

You know thats rubbish.

It got this bad when parents didn't raise their children. Just let them run riot and wonder why they're stupid, jobless and involved in disgraceful crime.

no, they would just make sure that anyone that goes through a 're-education center' has their criminal record removed, or introduce legislation making it illegal to discriminate against people with young offenders records.
