Potential Noddy question: E90 + Thule roof bar

Unfortunately you presume incorrectly. I am researching the niggly bits about the E90 before commiting to buying one. One of which is the apparent rarity of used E90s with split fold down seats leading me to consider roof bars. Was hoping someone else with a tape measure and an E90 might do the honours to save me a trip.

Any BMW, tourings aside, with folding rear seats is a rarity unfortunately.
Taking an educated guess, I'd say that the boot is more than 1m deep, but I haven't got an E90 parked outside..

all 3 coupes e46 and e92 have folding rear seats, but bizarrely not the saloons :(
 
they'd fit through the Ski hatch surely ?

and seconded by the way. Why does nobody ever spec split folding seats. So usefull !

To explain my motives a bit more, the plan is to store the bars in the boot as unobstrusively as possible at all times, so they are there whenever you need them but when you don't they don't get in the way of other stuff. The most sensible place is butted up against the tailgate from the inside obviously, but this has to be wide enough. Looking at some more photos I've pretty much deduced they should fit as the arse end cavity looks a bit wider than the roof, and the bars themselves look not much wider than the roof.

Yeah, this was another thing I read in a review of the car, saying they are prone to getting stuck in snow. What's all that about?

RWD and summer tyres probably.
Stick some proper winter tyres on it and I'm sure it can cope as well as any RWD car.
 
MAN looking at that website I got ripped off at rackattack Canada. They wanted me to pay almost $600CAN for a Thule setup, in the end I got ex-demo for about $450CAN! Then I was so loathed to dispose of it for minimal monies I paid the excess baggage charge to ship it home! So it sits on my bedroom floor, for a car I no longer have :(

To be fair, ski hatches have always been options on cars that we've had.
I don't think we've ever had a car with one.

Our old Saabs had folding seats as standard but the hatch was extra..

You jest but I've got used to them. Even my Mondeo has them ffs and when I came to check the fluids on a works transit I was borrowing I nearly dropped the bonnet as I'd forgotten about having to prop it up.
 
I did the same when i was noseying around the new Scirocco.
TBH I struggled to even lift the bloody thing it's so heavy :o
