New DGteam Firmware (DG834GT)

Can I wake my home pc from my iPhone?

If you can browse to the routers http page and login on the iphone then I don't see why not. I don't have an iphone to 100% confirm this however.

At work if I want to queue up a download so it's ready when I get home, it's fantastic to just fire up my pc (via routers http page) and use logmein to work on the pc.

O is the newest, adsl driver, the bes choice usually, but not always :p. Seems there's the odd bug or two but there always will be to some extent. Never had any problems flashing but it seems afew have, probably why it comes covered in "at your own risk" labels.

I'm not actually using it as a router, it's a bridged modem connected to a 54gl. Seems flawless this time round and switching to modem only removes all the router options keeping it neat. Currently synced at 13200, not bad considering my attenuation is 38db here and the snr is sitting at 2.2 (drops to ~1.5 in the evening*).

Edit: *and stable

Whats the difference between the 3 English files (?)?

From the DGT Forum -

"In particular on GT, to avoid any compatibility issue, we decided to release fw with 3 different drivers:
023o = the latest available with phyrext extensions (please read more documentation)
023b = the latest released with other orig netgear fw
022c = (older and size bigger) the one present on vanilla 1.03.22"

Just got my router today GT version and what a bloody beast :)
best dam 19.50 i have ever spent on a router.

Combined with this router + DGteam Firmware + Router Stats = AWSOMENESS.

here are my connection statistics, are you impressed, i am considering im on copper BT cables. NON fiber. TalkTalk LLU.

with the firmware i was able to get my SNR down from 6 to 1SNR... :)
in turn giveing me the power to SYNC at the highest LLU ADSL2+ sync rate
and with that i can pritty much SYNC at the same 24543 Download Stream all the time.

here are some results.

also

speedopants.jpg

as you can see im pritty impressed, when useing DGteam firmware i have forced DSLAM at our exchange to sync at a godly 1db snr instead of default 6db snr in turn gaining 2 half meg in speed from my previous sync rate wich was 21567

:)

WARNING

Stay away from this if you're O2 LLU with a dynamic IP. Static IP users are ok. Dynamic IP people will sync ok but won't get an IP, and so no net access.

The author is aware, there's a thread on the dgteam forum where it's being discussed.

Probably be a good idea for the OP to update his post.

Fair enough, however for the record I never bothered mentioning dynamic ips because this is an issue with the DHCP infrastructure on the BE/O2 llu network that effects DG834x routers. It's been an issue for over a year (effecting both official and DGteam firmwares) which they still haven't managed to fix. Personally I had a my static ip setup 30min after being connected to be many months ago, purly because of this problem.

If your Be/O2 contract allows a free static ip I suggest you make use of it, it'll solve so many problems.

I'm on O2 LLU with static so I'll give this a whirl - but out of curiosity why is only Be/O2 having a problem - why is the router not getting an IP?

ive been on 02/be for nearly two years now dynamic ip, always used the 834gt, never had a problem at all with netgear firmwares and dg team firmwares, until this new one.

Ive never heard of a problem before on any forums, its news to me that its a common problem

Would this work with my old Sky DG834GT? (static IP)

Still using the BeBox and its painfully bad. :o

Yep it'll work.

This is news to me, I know there was a problem with these routers not releasing an IP after awhile causing it to drop connection, but it's fixed with a firewall rule.
