I have a good PC setup bought from OCuk about 6 months ago and a new Samsung LED tv

what I want to know the best way to steam media from my PC (movies, tv eps that i would normally watch on VLC,WMP,MPC) on my TV

they are in the same room and almost right next to each other, but obviously the TV is much bigger so it would be better to watch it on the tv rather than on the monitor.

I am sure this has been asked before, i tried searching and couldnt find my answer :s

sorry and thank you =)

VGA, DVI or HDMI, depending on which you have available on both TV and your PC.

Set the output to the TV when required (or, if you've got the same resolution on both monitor and TV, clone the output).

Sound, you can either go direct through the TV, or use your PC speakers, or even better, a dedicated hi-fi/home theatre setup.

His PC is next to his TV, why would he want to buy a PS3 when as Confused suggested he can just get an HDMI cable (or DVI-HDMI) and connect the PC directly to the TV?

by the looks of his other forum posts he already has a ps3 so this is an option, but like you say a HDMI lead to the TV is just as easy.

For OP: Do you have a seperate sound system you'd want to use or will you be just wanting to use the TV speakers?

This unless you go down the PS3 route. My mate has his monitor and TV in the same room, he just activates the TV as a secondary display when we watch movies, then drags the player window over to the TV display and fullscreens it. Simples.

DVI > HDMI should get you a higher res than VGA on most TV's
For Audio I use just headphone jack > hifi

The machine I use is a 939 shuttle, x2 4400, 2Gb RAM,9600GT OC. Copes with pretty much everythign I've thrown at it including some games xD

The Nvidia control panel has some nice bits n pieces for getting the output on your TV slap bang how it should be
