What's the busiest time on a Sunday?

I want to go for a nice country road blast in my MX-5 today with the top down, as it's a nice day. However I am sick of getting stuck behind some volvo doing 35mph on the NSL twisties for 10 miles, then a caravan for the next 10, then someone in a polo who hits the brakes every time they approach a slight corner or see ANYTHING, so what I'd like to ask is....

What's the time of day (obviously during daylight, and after now) when the roads are quietest? Is early afternoon, late afternoon, or early evening the time when the roads (mainly country) will be quietest? I know what to expect during the week, but at the weekend everyone is doing their own thing.

Thanks in advance

I usually go out just after sunrise, the roads are deserted. You can do a couple of hours and be back before people have started to stir. It’s easy if you are an early riser.

I'd imagine Sunday early in the morning after sunrise, or simply any night around 3-4 am, when I drive around 3.30am I can sometimes drive 10 minutes without seeing another car, a great time to drive as you please :).

Early mornings are going to be your best bet. I drive back from Southampton accross Salisbury Plane a lot late on a Sunday, and even at 10pm there are still fools about tootling along.

Get up when the sun does.
