Mondeo RS Turbo....

Don't understand? Why would the dvla care about the mods?

You dont have to declare turbos to the DVLA - only engine changes. So if he's had the existing 2 litre Duratec turbocharged why would the DVLA need to be involved?

I was saying DVLA if he had a different engine in there. Could you really get 245bhp out of the 2.0l with a turbo

DVLA couldn't give a rats if you've turbo'd your engine though

As for the line about the power delivery being worse, a 2l turbo knocking on the door of 250bhp will at least feel a bit fast, which can't be said about the ST220.

That is true, although due to turbocharging my poxy 130 TDCI feels fast (ish :))

Well the engine in there is a Duratec, you can see it in the photos?

The engine bay picture is very dark and I wouldn't be able to tell what engine it is anyway having never seen the engine bay of a Mondeo.

I love the way these chavs have them still declared as the old engine, cheap on insurance innit mayte! Especially when they drop cav turbo engines in corsa's but the V5 still says 1.2, I think the inspector may well notice should you ever need to use that insurance.

Oh please .

What it says on the V5C has sweet bugger all to do with the insurance.

My car is still down as a 1.6 on the Logbook. At the end of the day I still pay exactly the same amount of road tax as I would with or without the V5C saying "1998CC", if the tax system changes to put my car in a Higher/Lower band as a 1.6 than it would with the 2.0 engine then I'd mention it, for right now it isn't doing any harm what so ever. The engine and other modifications are declared to my insurance company and that is what matters, and they couldn't care less about what is written on that document.

Try and have a clue about the topic you're ranting about next time.

Anyway, The "booked as a 2 litre" comment suggests to me that a bigger engine has been fitted?

Alright then well I wasn't aware of that! Would thought its all linked in with the Reg number anyway but I guess not. Regardless, 'it is booked as 2 litre so cheep to insure' implies to me that its common practice to not update the documentation, in order to get cheaper insurance!

It is a 2.0 i think. In which case, it probably always has been, just with the addition of a Turbo, which would probably point to the owner thinking he has to declare it (which i though too, to be honest!)

This has backfired :p

Not really, it didn't seem like the normal total chav effort of an ad, despite the lack of real details. More so I just wanted to know what sort of engine you would have to have and what you'd need to do to it to get a 245bhp in a Mk3 Mondeo, and why would you bother considering most ST220's are giving out more than 220bhp anyway.

It looks a tidy job and some people prefer the power delivery of a Turbocharged or Supercharged engine and some prefer the smooth delivery of a V6. Every member I know of who owns one admits the ST220 doesn't really 'feel' that quick. The car has standard wheels and the only chavvy thing I can see are the LEDs, the gauges look trick and well done and the spoiler isn't that offensive.

I don't think that it is commonplace to update the V5C. To dodgy people a car that has a bigger engine than what the logbook says is a massive bonus because they do not have to mention the engine change to their insurance company and will save a fair bit of cash. And in the grand scheme of things they'd probably get away with it, remove the coloured piping and what have you and you'll have a standard looking engine. Unless the claims adjuster REALLY knows his beans or is anal enough to check the VIN/engine numbers he'd over look it. That's assuming he even takes a look at the engine!

To us honest fools who do declare stuff it makes no difference. Be it 2.0 or 8.9L V12 on the logbook we're going to mention our modifications to the insurance company individually.

Pretty common place to put them nowadays. I suppose you would LOL if there was 3-4 them in a pillar mount as well

No.
It is funny that he has blocked up all his air vents with silly dials.
If he puts the heater on full hot, would the cables to the dials melt?
How does the heater or aircon work if you block the vents up?

Same reason anyone does silly modifications to their cars I guess - you'll have to ask them as I dont get it!

He says at the bottom it's a 2.0 on the v5 (cheap insurance y0!), I think 245bhp is a bit optimistic for a 2.0 zetec with a turbo - even if it makes the same 220bhp as the ST220, the power delivery wont be as good....so pretty pointless, disgusting and chavvy
Why is turbocharging a car disgusting and chavvy??? Pointless is debatable (it's not something I would do to a Mondeo personally but everyone likes different things after all) but I wouldn't describe it as 'disgusting'.

Having an AFM and boost gauge fitted after a turbo conversion is probably pretty sensible really.. not silly. Not sure what the third gauge is.

Many people install gauges in the heaters. I imagine if the job has been done properly then the heater ducts going to the face vents have been blocked up :p. Obviously the heater / aircon will still work out of the footwell vents and demister vents.
