Morning :)

After two previous unsuccessful specs (Couldn't justify spending that much back then) I've come to the conclusion that I need a new Pc now :D

So if you could, spec me a computer for around £600ish (not inc OS, keyboard etc) and a monitor for about £200ish please ;)

Here's one I spec'd myself :

A bit over £600 & some components are "place holders" like the case, I'm not sure if the Antec 300 is still the best budget case. Haven't a clue what monitor to get, but 22" sounds about right. I think there's a few places where I can save a few pennies too :p

Any input would be great, thanks :p

true, lol, just your other option would be to go for a lower cpu and try n squeeze in a 5850, as it is for gaming, depends on how flexible your budget is as i see you already gone 30 over

Yep, I saw your post in your thread with an I3 & 5850, but I'm not sure about paying that much for a 5850. Depends how much it would effect the general use of the computer.

What would you do ? :p

Hmm just made a quick spec with a 5850 :

I assume 500w would be enough for that but I'm not 100% sure about spending that much on a pc :p Although it's not that much for the usage it will get :)

Now I've got to decide which one, I've got until Friday though which is supposedly when everything will be in stock

Anyone else have any input please ? :)

I'd spend another tenner on the hard drive & get the 500g Samsung F3. Read very good reviews on this.

500W is more than enough unless you're going to overclock, in which case you might find that power supply struggle, i5 750 alone pulls 280W at 4GHz at 100% load

EDIT nevermind that! the figures I was looking at were actually for the whole system in which case yes that PSU should be enough

Looks good, agree with the Samsung F3 though, it's a very nice drive and it's what everyone suggests atm. If you can afford £900 then go for it, like you said you'll use it a lot so it's not *that* much in a way.

Thanks for the input

I'll switch the drive for an F3 and I wouldn't mind giving overclocking a go, why else would I be on this forum ? No plan on CF'ing the 5850 in the future either so no need for a larger PSU :p

Any estimations on how long the PC will last playing recent games at a half decent fps & quality level? If it lasts for 2 years without any upgrades it'll work out at about £1.20 per day :D
