For some reason, the past few days I have become keen on upgrading to an iPhone and getting getting rid of my BlackBerry 9000. I really love the keyboard, Email and BlackBerry Messenger on the BB, none of which the iPhone really have!

My Bold is broken, it works intermittently, although I am looking at the new Bold 9700, I still feel inclined to look at iPhones. My logic is, the Bold 9700 is really expensive for what it is, and you can get a 3G iPhone for cheaper and it's more bang for buck in my eyes with regards to functionality but it lacks the messenger and decent email.

I also already have a iTouch, so someone please convince me not to go to the dark side!

im not even a balckberry fan but id choose the 9700 over the 3g iphone every day of the week

even more so if i already had an itouch for playing with apps on

Even though i would never ever consider ditching my BB's for an iphone...id probably get one to go along with my BB's tbqh...the iphones in terms of functionality are nothing close to what the BB does...the iphone doesnt even let you switch between apps unless it wants you to...battery life truly sucks...email on the iphone is nothing close to the BB ie they say its push but pinging a server every 5-10mins isnt exactly push is it??.

LOL at you saying the 9700 is expensive for what it is??..dude the iphone is a complete and utter rip off for what it is as it doesnt even do the basic functions all that well..the BB9700 is a much cheaper and better all round device compared to the iphone imho. The iphone 3G might be cheaper but is slower...your better off going with the 3GS as its faster and a bit more polished than the 3GS....as for bang for buck functionality?? lol well the iphone is a great multimedia device...its a multimedia whores wet dream come true in all honesty ie if you want tons of games and other useless apps then its the best out there...saying that id probably suggest the Android platform as its open source where the iphone isnt.

But then saying that the iphone is good at what it does...its great as a multimedia device and thats it...but then 90k worth of useless apps is something worth jumping ship for:p:D.

At the end of the day you will have people of both devices that will say one is better than the other...honestly i couldnt and wouldnt ditch my BB for an iphone...my brother has the iphone and ive played with it and within 10-15mins i was bored silly of it whereas both my BB's, 9700 and Storm2 dont bore me...i dont know why that is as there are more apps for the iphone.

Id seriously suggest the 9700, top top phone and is much better than the 9000 Bold...better battery life, better memory management and is faster but smaller. Ive had mine since Nov last yr and i havent once looked back...even my Storm2 i find it better than the iphone.

At the end of the day its up to you what you want from a phone...if your not that bothered about email, BBM, better battery life and multi tasking then go for the iphone...i bet you that you will be back to BB within a few days;)...like the saying goes once you go blackberry you dont go back:p:D

Personally im waiting to see what the new iphone brings to the table...id love to get one but unless they get revolutionary with it...i wont consider it.

What messenger? And what's wrong with the iPhones email client? (There are apps for pretty much all IM clients and various alternative email clients)

Blackberry messenger is what hes talking about...real time messaging between BB's.

Well I'm not the best person to advise on technicalities but I can tell you that I have an Iphone 3G, Ipod touch, and a Blackberry 9700 (which I got yesterday, upgraded from 8300)

Even with the 8300 blackberry I had before yesterday, which is over 3 years old, I opted to use it as my primary phone over the Iphone 3g.

I find iphone to be complete rubbish, slow, unstable, fiddly, and needs to be jail broken for anything useful. Oh and not forgetting the abysmal battery life on the iphone.

Blackberry battery lives are usually excellent.

If I were you I wouldn't waste money on the Iphone. get a blackberry

had an iphone ditched it last year for a bold, never going back, iphone sucks at messaging its painful to type emails and texts on, battery life barely lasts a day on the iphone

I have real problems with the screen size and how ugly the UI is on all the blackberry devices. That said the BB does all the jobs the iphone can do but much better.

I went from 9000 to 3gs. iPhone absolutley destroys the 9000 imo. I thought I'd never leave BB but when work gave me the 3gs i realised how wrong i was.

LOL how does it destroy the 9000 exactly??...usually its the other way round...people ditching the iphone for the BB and saying the BB beats the iphone hands down.

But id love to hear your reasons as to how and why the iphone 'destroys' the BB...i mean shoddy battery life, no multi tasking, no way of customising the phone ie themes unless you illegally jailbreak the phone...the fact that to get any sort of decent battery life you need to turn off 3G and push notifications....the list goes on and on and on.

Whereas even the worst BB will still do all those things that the iphone cant lol.

You need to stop misinforming people about the iPhone's ability to do push email, it does indeed have push and works as push should.

It has the option to ping every x amount of minutes, but it also has the option to receive push - if your email server supports it.

I set my iPhone to download work emails, if I leave it set to push and have it right next to my docked laptop - the email notification comes through exactly at the same time as it does on my Outlook client.

Several members of our team also have iPhones, if an email goes out to our mass mail address - you hear about 4/5 iPhones going off at the same time an email comes out.

OP - Never owned a BB, but know several people who do and they feel very flimsy/cheap plastic like. My current cover manager has a Storm2.

IMO Stay with the Blackberry, its going to be better that the basic tasks then the iPhone.

I currently have a iPhone 3GS and i can't wait to get rid of the thing, its by far the worst phone i had as its about on par with my N97 i had.

iPhone exchange - it just doesn't work.

Really? I've got Exchange push set up on my work iPhone and the e-mails come through on it before they even hit my desktop. I find it works perfectly.

Of course, enabling push e-mail on an iPhone is a total killer of battery life though.
