has anyone been one? i don't read the sun but i do remember seeing an advert for a ten quid holiday and was just wondering wether anyones been on one as a holiday is a luxury i may not be able to afford this year but would try one of these cheap breaks ....

Yea I know a couple of people who have, and they really liked it..

Just bear in mind that's their opinion, and they read the Sun. But if you're after something cheap, what have you got to lose?

im not good with words, but a lot of certain types of people go on these and shall i say some are probably not the nicest people in the world.

Ie let there dogs roam free doing there business every where, screaming and swearing at the kids.

They kinda spoil it for the people that genuinely want to enjoy there selves.

Just be careful and bear in mind there are lots of extra costs and some times it can work out the same just booking direct your self out of school holiday times.

I love going abroad but now do two or three of these a year with my other half, it's great fun, one day off work & a three day weekend in a nice unexplored (by us) area, we don't spend much time on the site - usually go & find quirky villages, nice local pubs, attractions. Check out comedy clubs/theatres whatever.. I've not had a bad caravan yet, although probably just jinxed this years hols now :)

We take our own linen, bog rolls & some food from home, it's pretty cheap then..

And of course you get to do all the penny machines, crazy golf and for one night have a laugh and beat the granny's at bingo! Seriously it's good fun if you're with someone you can have a good time with, more than 2 people in a caravan would be too cosy though.

My parents have been a couple of times, and only got the sun for the holidays, so arn't your usual sun readers:P

They said it was really good, not hoards of chavs burning tyres and stuff, and as it's only really a base to visit the surrounding area so all was good.

It varies I think, a mates parents went on one and said it was horrible, loads of scummy chavs drinking own brand cider and just acting like complete ****s ruining it for everyone else.

But my grandparents enjoyed the one they went on.

I've been on five of these things now. We usually stay in the caravan homes on sites like Haven Hopton and, to be honest, its great. We started going when my son was 6 months old and now he's 4 and still loves them. Cheap, cheerful, good base to explore the local area, entertainment in the evenings, kids activities etc. Winner all round really. We've never had any issues with chavs etc.

FYI, we read The Times in our house (if we bother with a newspaper at all). ;)

Not been on one but know a few that have and its basics but great for families and you, you can go to many places around the world and be stuck with chavs and even stuck snobs and paying £1000s for the privilege.

They still do the cheap holidays deal? How's long that been going on now? Pretty sure I went on a cheap holiday from the Sun 13 odd years ago. I can only imagine it's changed in quality since then.
Although from what I remember, I did somewhat enjoy it, but as said before it is the basics if I can remember correctly and that was quote a while ago!

we went to Norfolk a few years back with the Sun. it was a good laugh! right near the beach, lots of arcades to waste away your pennies and good local entertainment. we went in October so there wasn't really many people around.

I've been on two, and they've been fine for the money we paid. Both times we only used the caravans to sleep and eat breakfast in. We had nothing to do with our neighbours and avoided the on-site entertainment. If you fancy a couple of days in an area of the country you've never been to then the sun's holidays are a good deal.

I'm not sure whether our deal was with the Sun, but definitely through those newspaper tokens...

8 of us went over to the Isle of Wight for 4 days/3 nights for £35 each including return ferry trips for 2 cars. It was awesome... can't wait to go again! The accommodation was basic, but perfectly acceptable in two large chalet-style b uildings. The site had a bar, swimming pool and leisure centre, was quiet and not too busy.

been on a few of these, Haggerston castle, Presthaven sands, Butlins in bognor, Perranporth in Newquay and Blackpool, all have been decent enough for the price, considering others are paying a lot more for pretty much the same holiday :).
