Looking to get a PS3, its only for the 1 or 2 games (Heavy Rain & GOW). But I refuse to pay £250 for 1 game for the slim version considering after I most likely clock those two games the PS3 will sit and gather dust (happened before).

So my question, can you still buy the FAT versions? and for cheaper? Obviously I know we cannot discuss some competitors but any help would be great :)

Only second hand now iirc.

But they are substantially cheaper.

Yups, seen them second hand. Not quite sure unless I can find someone who can prove/reciept that it isnt that old.

Is it true that the 60gb and 40gb have problems with the lasers? Should I stay away from these as a 2nd hand purchase?

80GB ones do pop up at various retailers every now and again, hotukdeals.com is a good place to keep an eye on for those.

Yeah, the older models suffer laser issues like the previous Sony consoles, but that has a simple fix.

They also suffer from "YLoD" issues like the 360's "RQoD" errors, but again newer models have done a lot to rectify this.

Told you you would want a PS3 again at some point :p

Haha, you sure did. Gameplay videos of Heavy Rain has got me wanting one again!!

I think I will stick to trying to find a 80GB version, as I have only read about problems with the 40GB & 60GB.

A local supermarket still has them but they arn't really that cheap. I think it was an 80 gb version with a game and 2nd controller for .£219.99

Surely you would want the PS3 for much more than just those two games...

I can think of either of the Uncharted's, and Heavenly Sword for starters ???

Had one before and liked Uncharted, I spose this time around thinking about it I would want Uncharted 2, but after that they is nothing that has caught my eye yet.

Thats not bad, will have to keep a look out. A supermarket is doing the 120GB with any game for £257 I think...

Heavenly Sword is a really odd game to suggest. It doesn't even stand up to today's games. It served as a propaganda title for Sony's aspirations with a PS3 and nothing more.

I still remember the majority of forum users slating me for being the only one who realized the gameplay wasn't that great - it was all graphics with little substance.

God of War III creams it and then some.
