So i am building my own desktop, something that sounds very interesting to me as i prefer practical things as i get bored very easily if i am not doing something that is that practical, so if i like making my desktop and i enjoy setting it up and everything i was thinking about trying to get a job in this area, the thing is i just dont know what this kind of job title would be called to be able to look for it, what kind of job title would this be called?

'IT monkey' I believe :p

Or more formally, probably something like Information and Communications Technology Hardware Systems Engineer

Desktop support, potentially systems support if you end up enjoying setting up hundreds of them on a network. Unfortunately some I.T. titles are rather pointless, one title in one company means nothing like it in another, so job descriptions are vital.

It's not helpdesk though, that much you can be sure of!

Yeah, plumbers are always in high demand. Then you could go home and tinker with your watercooled rig...

Don't bother being a system builder unless you're doing really special machines and charging as such.

you'll also find tha tunless you specifically go for a system builder or the likes, in a lot of IT teccie/support type jobs that the company will usually buy from the likes of Dell, Viglen etc as a pre-built system so theres very rarely any hardware building to be had.

Any manual job. Including prostitute.

urm sounds good, could make loads of money with my sexy body, but i guess my girlfriend wont be happy with that :)

I dont like being outside, get cold even in the hot summer days
dont like plumbing, painting, decorating and such
something to do with Computers, but that might have something to do with my OCD (part of my Autisim)

and to me getting watercooling for computers is crazy the last time i checked water + electronics = Disaster!

When was the last time you had a cup of tea or a shower then? :D Ever heard of a kettle or an electric shower? ;)

There really isn't much in computers, trust us :)

Manual work with a decent wage, you say.

Engineering is the way forward for you mate, really intricate engineering.
Or maybe surgeon?
Experienced chef in a top restaurant?

Any practical work on a decent wage will still require a hell of a lot of knowledge or experience.

No money in building pc's or anything like that as a trained monkey could do it.

It seems to me a lot of people who like building PCs actually quite like networking too (god only knows why) more than programming / development, so perhaps you should think about that route?

^ Good suggestion, networking it more hardware related than dev work usually. :)
thats what i was thinking, but everyone said crap money
of course it wouldnt be on my own, it would be for a company

I think it's considered to be low skill so that would explain why it's low money. If you enjoy it tho, then consider it a nice alternative to working in somewhere like McDonalds... I don't think I could build computers for more than a few months without becoming tired of it...

Maybe there is more money in building bespoke watercooled systems or something like that, but I imagine the demand for this would be low, so check this out beforehand...
