"She", doesn't want a Mondeo as much as I tell her the VFM is exceptional.

She wants smaller, but still with a decent boot. I thought MK4 Golf or Focus but the Focus upsets me because you get a better Mondeo for the money.

What realistic alternatives are available?

bit of a wild card suggestion but mg zr? I've got one and the boot is a decent size, fits my sub in (chav boi! :p) plus a weeks worth of shopping with it. Fits the bill and is a damn site prettier than the focus or golf. However as this is for a female i'd say good luck as female's are strange creatures to buy cars for. I know find something pink :D

She did look at ZRs but I fancy they are getting risky now. My GFs stepmum has a 25 and needs a new sunroof seal (and ideally, glass) can't find one anywhere that isn't the complete value of the car!

Breakers yard, 20 quid at most. Come on man :p

Edit: If it's a 25, £20 is probably the value of the car :D sorry.

ZR is Fiesta/Clio sized? A ZS would be similar in size to a Golf/Focus.

haha ZR is a tad bigger than a fiesta mate, or the older ones anyways as fiestas seem to be getting bigger by each generation (maybe they just look bigger). In fact i'd say they sit between the two, not quite as big as a four door focus but certainly bigger than a clio. Anyways Lucero didn't specify a size he would like just a decent boot which the MG has. Just a suggestion.

EDIT: alternatively there's seat leons that should fit the bill too. how do you feel about those?

My lass has on 06 Fiesta, and although probably more than your budget, it can fit in 2 25L drums in the boot with a bit spare. Any reason for a massive boot?
