Well, in keeping with my car's tendancy to keep my life 'interesting' with niggly, annoying and hard to fix problems, this is a corker. :D

Coolant has been dropping steadily for a good while, usually just top it up every few weeks.

I went to do it yesterday and found this:

No coolant pipes in that area, the fluid tastes sweet/nasty and obviously isn't oil.

Have I bettered my exploded clutch with this one? :o

Wasn't the car's fault, I may have been slightly down on antifreeze in the cold spell. Oops :p

New head is pennies, they're everywhere thank God. Is that what it looks like? :)

i had water dripping from my ZR the other day, that was a slight yellow colour and tasted sweet. found out it was water with de-icer from the windscreen water jet pipes, one had come loose so sprayed under the bonnet.

I still fail to understand why you're keeping the diesel, I really do  The money you could save could pay to run the 620 3 times over, does this not make sense?

The entire reason I avoided a 75/ZT is because of the BMW engine. So no, it hasn't. :p

I've come to love the way the ZS drives, it's a shame I thought skimping on antifreeze was an awesome idea.

Seems to run happily enough though, just likes to drink coolant like a fat ***** likes pies :D

What is it with the MG ZR/S/T and the stupid engine rumours. No, the only Rovers that had Honda engines were the older 200s.

Pretty sure they started using Honda engines too . . . .

Honda engines were in the 600s (1.8, 2.0 NASP and 2.3) and in the older Rover 200/400 etc, due to the breakup with Honda before BMW took over in circa 2000, none were used after that.

In fact, Honda liked the Rover diesel unit so much they used it in the Civic. :)

I went through 2 Heads on my K Series ZR 160... Damn poo things.

Cant understand why lotus did not share their K Series.

nice pics!

Lotus has the same head, the reason they lasted was usually due to extensive care by their owners... and you might have just had a sunk liner or something causing repeated failures.

Damn piece of crap the K series was, with a little money spent it would have been an excellent engine, as I'm sure you liked the way it drove when it did work :p
