Anyone on Orange get calls from 08450706745?

Constantly getting calls from this number. First (and only) time I answered, they asked me to confirm who I was and give my security details over which instantly screamed scam.

I've read mixed things on other forums, some saying it is a scam and others claiming it's a 3rd party phone insurance firm hired by Orange.

Can any one else shed some light on this?

Its a third party company trying to get you signed up for insurance. Who knows if its orange or not. This is an old scam.

Contract numbers are usually allocated in small blocks. These guys go and get a contract or have someone inside the shop give them the current block. Then they call subsequent numbers from the block and try to sell you stuff. Most people beleive it because they will say something like you just got your new contract, and we forgot to ask you about insurance etc.

This happened a lot with carephone warehouse recently.

Answer and tell them (politely) that their calls are not welcome and never to call you again. If they do and they're based in the UK, get their details and then tell them you're reporting them to Ofcom. That should put them in their place.

When I was on orange I used to get calls from people claiming to be orange and offering me upgrades. I used to tell them I know your not orange and I will be reporting this call to orange, then see how fast they hang up.

Sorry to res a dead thread but got a call from this number today. 0845 number so thought google might have the answer and behold I came home lol. Only joined Orange a week and 3 days ago and transfered my number from 02 last wednesday. Wonder if 02 sold it on for leaving them. It really wouldnt surprise me.

The common factor in this thread is Orange not O2, I'd be looking in their direction.
