you sure its not the leak off pipe leaking from the injector?

Generally speaking the L series is a stong engine , well certainly compared to the K series petrol :D
 
What amazes me on this forum is how certain people consistently and constantly make the most bone headed or ridiculous decisions and never seem to learn.

Why are you runing these two cars?

It seems like you desperately wish you had a nice economical decent daily driver and an exotic fun toy for the weekends, yet in reality you appear to have two old Rovers, neither of which are that great and either of which you could quite easily own in isolation :confused:
 
It's possible you have cracked the head, but more likely would be a leaking coolant hose or radiator that is squirting a fine jet of coolant toward the engine when the system gets pressurised. Seen this as few times, and it can be difficult to track down.
 
Yes, i loved my MG, Would have another one if i could relay on the damn thing, i have a heavy boot on a Sunday Morning, these "K"s dont allow too much fun.
 
It doesn't surprise me that much to be fair, it is after all a Rover :p ...why do you continue to put yourself through this though? ...why not just get rid of one or both. Doing what Howard suggested sounds like a fine idea for the time being, sell the ZS and get the 620TI working right and use that.
 
People actually "taste" vehicle fluids?! :o

I'm all up for wielding power tools and smothering myself in used oil whilst wearing speedo's, but tasting fluids?

Are they not toxic?

The MG would be the one that stays, it's such a good drive... just a shame it breaks... :o

Out of interest... what colour marks does diesel leave if it evaporates?
 
what exactly am i suppose to be looking at in the picture? just looks like a leaking injector seal?

had the same on the HDI when some monkey mechanic didnt do his job properly.
 
i'd take the injector out first and check the seal out.

as for the coolant leak, i assume you checked all the obvious including heater matrix etc?
