Meh, Timko's posts tend to be of a much higher quality :p

Anyways, so tempted to get this game, would be nice to have it sitting waiting for me when all the exams are over.

not on steam it hasnt.

tbh the normal edition at 20.09 is prob the better buy. You only get a soundtrack and some wallpapers for that extra 6quid.....

You get the blood armour and the ston prisoner in both packs

Where has it been 14.99 ? not on steam it hasn't....

It might very well be for a disc version but personally I would rather it on my steam profile

lol I can't believe that steam are constantly charging such ridiculous prices for digital downloads when you can get the retail version with box+disc+manual etc. for 10-15 quid less and aren't required to have net connection for steam etc.

And people actually buy from them!

I do agree that the pricing on Steam can be excessive at times but obviously people feel that the service provided by Steam more than makes up for the premium cost, ultimately it's up to the customer to decide if they are getting value for money. Personally I generally buy retail copies when there is a large discrepancy between the Steam pricing and the retail pricing. In this case though the extra fiver to have the game on Steam is worth it for me. I also avoid paying full whack for games on Steam as, sooner or later, they will be on offer. I won't be paying the euro pricing though if I can avoid it.

Been covered before, but the prices on Steam aren't set by them, they're set by the publisher, or developer in the case of indie stuff. This was verified when Frozenbyte (Shadowgrounds, Trine) stated that the Steam version of Trine was the only version where they set the price themselves.

But yes, in cases like this, it is bizarre that people will pay such a premium to have the Steam version.

so pay 5quid extra and I can have it on steam.

This means I can:

a) Download it anytime I want as long as I remember my login....
b) Install with ease and everything is managed by steam
c) If my hard-drive dies no worry's I can just download it again :)
d) if I break the disc, oh wait no disc....
e) its on my hard-drive therefore I save space and do not have to store boxes
f) theres no disc ! so if I fancy playing a game all I have to do is click the icon and GO ! no having to find the box with the disc.

For me it is totally worth the 5 quid extra.

I also tend to wait on deals I think the only game I ever paid full price for was Mass Effect 2 because I wanted it from the get go.

.

a) provided you are somewhere with an internet connection and steam isn't down
b) clicking 'install'/'i agree'/'next'/'finish' is hard eh?
c) If your HDD dies no worries can just install it again
d) I've never broken a disc in my life
e) You can't find a box/disc booklet to store discs in? not to mention the fact that you own a physical copy to do as you please with when you please with
f) Mass Effect 2 is the last game I've needed the disc to play, before that I can't remember - is putting a disc in the drive really that much of a problem in the first place?

And when I can either wait for a steam deal on a game thats being sold for 35 quid from them, or buy it upon release and get the manual/box etc. for 10 quid less, I just don't see any reason to buy anything from steam unless it's an incredibly good offer.

I find Steam extremely convenient.

When I rebuild my computer I just install Steam, choose the games I want to reinstall and away it goes.

oh come on how often does steam go down ? Majority of PCs will be connected to internet. Unless you have your laptop in which case guess what back it up and play it offline.

Installing from a CD takes a hell of a lot longer that it would from your HDD

As for broken discs, I have friends and a younger brother that are evil :p

Boxes and booklets I honestly would just rather not have them taking space in my flat. The few games I do own are in a box in the storage cupboard. Otherwise I would rather all games on my PC and not make a mess of my neat office.
