I am not going to pretend I know anthing about GFX cards, just came back from a 2 year stint with Mac's as Win 7 is now so stable etc.

I am getting the itch to pay latest games etc.

So what card can someone suggest without being silly money, I just built a machine that has a AMD Athlon II X4 2.8 , with 6 gig ram.

Thanks

On top of twitch's questions, what PSU do you have in your machine?

Unrelated, but is your 6GB RAM running in Dual or Single channel mode? (this can be checked in CPU-Z)

GFX card

Well running 1066mhz DDR3 Dual

Silly money I am looking at £100 max unless for an extra £30 i get a card that will do so much more

I will be running it on a 22" Monitor at 1900 x whatever.

Then a 5770..

Unless you want 2nd hand..
May wait for the new Nvidia cards to come along to drop ATI's prices , but doubt if it will have much affect in that price bracket..

Good card though

:)

+1 For HD5770 1GB

Also, try to overclock your CPU. Athlon II X4 should be able to overclock to 3.5GHz at least (if you don't have a crap motherboard)...or may be even a bit more, assuming you got a decent CPU cooler.

Thanks for all the feedback looks like it will be a 5770

So what do i expect to get out of this card and my kit.

Am i going to get to play lastest games at full spec or as near as , or am i asking too much.

5770 will struggle a bit at 1920x1080/1200 dx11 mode with 4xAA in demanding games, so you should consider lowering to 2xAA or even some less important details in those games. Games like DIRT 2 you would most likely be fine with 4xAA, dx 11 mode and max out quality.
