Very High Ping

Latly when ever my brother puts his laptop on the ping on all my wireless connection becomes very unstable, for example with his laptop of when i ping google.com i get 32-32ms when his laptop is on im getting 38-275ms which is really werid. I check for viruses and adware and all that stuff but there was thing. At first i thought it might be too many computer sharing one connection as I have 2 computer 3 laptops and 2 phones on wireless but i tested it with everything else on expect my brothers laptop and it was fine but as soon as his laptop is on it goes all crazy. I currently cant play my Ps3 online and thats the biggest problem. I use a wire for my ps3 and still my ping on COD:MW2 never goes above 1/4 bars while my bros laptop is on.

Im currently with Talk Talk and using a WAG54GS.

if the ps3 is wired then its not just a wireless issue. More than likely his laptop is swamping the upload and driving the ping time up. probably a spam trojan

- not sure what logs the wag54gs has but i would want to see what traffic is leaving the laptop outbound.

you could put wireshark on the laptop and see exactly what its up to

I'd say the laptop is infected with something killing the upload.

Bump, sorry for the double post but I really had no idea what im doing I run a virus scan on my bros laptop using kaspersky which is his anti virus and also ran Spy bot search and destory. I also downloaded wireshark but I have no idea what im looking for. Thanks for any help and sorry again for double post.

Try running Malwarebytes in safemode on his laptop, once you have got latest updates for it.

It can find stuff some anti virus packages might not report. Used it to find a Trojan Nod32 trial didn't report.

Ok thanks a lot man im gonna run it on all the laptops and PC on my network and hopefully get rid of this damn lag thanks a lot

Maybe run a bandwidth monitor on there too just to see what kind of bandwidth it's using. Something like DU Meter is probably a good bet.

well i used networt meter side gadget on all the laptops and it ends up my big bro left over 40 torrents to upload. The noob didnt know that once you finish downloading a torrent it uploads and he uploaded over 7gb pre torrent Lol. Everything seems to be running fine now.

That would be good if he was on a ratio site
