No 3rd party is making an HD 5830 on a rev1 5870 PCB so that power test is completely pointless.
I doubt it is driver issue. The 5830 has downscale a bit too much from its 5850/5870 big brothers, making its performance closer to the 5770 side instead of in the very middle between 5770 and 5850 (whereas the price is closer on the 5850 side making the 5830 very poor value). The gap in terms of performance between 5770 and 5830 simply isn't as big as between 4870 and 4890.Could someone please explain why the 5830 always seems to performs worse than the 4890, as it has the higher specs. Is this down to early drivers or?

I was thinking of buying that £190 5830 on the OCUK site but...i still think thats to much. I want something a tad quicker than my 5770 and good at higher res. Or i could save for a new 4** series card from nvidia or save for a 5850.
