Acer S243HL 24"

I am sure some users of this forum who own or have owned this monitor can give you more detail, but it seems to suffer more than comparable TN panels when it comes to inaccurate colours. This might not be something that would bother everyone, but it is certainly something you should be aware of.

I bought one and promptly returned it I'm afraid to say, could never get the colours acceptable across more than 1 input.

IMO the monitor costs too much for the IQ you get, and you're basically paying a premium for the design and the (IMO) marketing gimmick of LED backlighting. It's nice being thinner than normal and saving a bit of energy, but that's about it.

Not sure where you heard it was "very good". I bought mine on a whim, even though all the reviews I read said it was average. The 27" iiyama I replaced it with is far superior.

I certainly disagree with LED backlighting being a marketing "gimmick", but in this case that may well be true. It is a technology that can be implemented well and can make a real (positive) difference to image quality, or it can be implemented poorly but still be used to flog the monitor. Hopefully the OP will like it more, but either way please let us know. :)

From my experience, on this monitor it must be poorly implemented then as I saw no obvious benefit to IQ over other LCD monitors I have owned.

Funny that i had this LG and the Iiyama 27" as my options too not that long ago and you mention you swapped to the Iiyama.. its that much better eh?

Compared to the Acer, I'm much happier with the iiyama.

The colours on the Acer actually irritated me so much that I returned it.
