GTX480 - Massive Availability April 6th

im just hoping they come out soon im getting impatient, i want to know for sure on the price and performance before i make my mind up on which way to go..

From 'reports' today, the GTX470 will be £299 (maybe more depending on how much the retailers will fleece out of us on top of RRP)

mmm i hope not! i was hoping more for around the £250 mark but i guess it all downs to performance. then again these are jus reports, im waiting for the actual thing to get released

Ahhhh of course. But still, I had never heard anyone mention power or heat being an issue for that card.

Heat has always been an issue for every enthusiast GPU to some point, but Nvidia are taking the problem to a new high, maybe an unworkable high.

I dont honestly think anyone knows whats going to happen with these cards.

Performance, availability and price are the questions that no one knows the answers to and it will either make or break he line of cards.

just remember that we have nothing but a lot of hearsay and rumour about the actual power requirements of the new GTX470/480, wait the last couple of weeks and we will find out how much power it really needs.

I think you're wrong. All the information I've seen points toward these cards having disappointing performance, high power usage, high heat production and being very difficult to make (leading to low availability & high cost). The only question really is how nVidia prices them, and how much money they are willing to lose on each card.

I'd be very, very suprised if they are better value for money than the 5870, even at it's current inflated price.

I'm not going to confirm or deny any issues, etc. with these cards... but... 9/10 times this information about all the issues with them originates from the same bias source(s) and jumped on as fact and played out by all the haters for every penny its worth.

I can relate to that, everything negative I have read has stemmed from notveryaccurate.com

I also noticed the people that are keep on kicking nvidia are usually the people that already got 5850 or 5870. They got 5850/5870 sure I'm happy for them, but is there a need to keep kicking Nvidia and badmouthing a product that has not yet released and properly reviewed? If Fermi in the end turn out disappointing so what? It's not like anyone's cat or dog's gonna die over it.

I think all these ATI vs Nvidia crap is as immature as the X Box 360 vs PS3 consule war.

And the lovers take any titbits of good news a hold on to it, like ultimate optimists.

Maybe the lovers of tidbits like to see positives in things rather than joining the negative about everything against nvidia gang. Glass half full/empty etc.

No concrete performance figures form NV with just over a week left to release says it all really, if they had something they would have sneaked a card out to be benched by one of the better known reviewers as they have done in the past, this time they have nothing but average cards that are to late, to hot and probably to expensive.

Not being able to buy an ATI 5 series card 6 months after launch says it all really too.
