Hi, I recently built a new system. It installed windows just fine and all fans etc seem to be working. Problem is, sometimes when i'm playing a game or streaming something the screen will go black or striped blue and light blue and i will hear a load buzzing from the speakers. When this happens the computer becomes unresponsive to ctrl alt del, forcing me to shut down by hold the power button. When I go to start it up again there is a 2 second delay before it will start. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to computers but i'm fairly sure I built it correctly, following the guide posted here. I'm also pretty sure I was well grounded as I was barefoot on concrete, the power supply installed first and plugged in with the switch off, etc. I have run windows memory diagnostic 3 times, twice it failed to complete, freezing half way through and the third time it completed. Do you guys have any ideas?, or know of any freeware diagnostic tool? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running.....................

OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel
ATI Radeon HD 5850
i5 750
ocz modxtreme 600w
Asus P7P55D LE
Samsung spinpoint f3
Tuniq tower
sony operatic DVDRW
Antec 300
Using 28" sanyo lcd tv as monitor(not sure of exact model)
windows 7 home premium retail.

I'm not sure, I think I only installed the ones from the XFX disk. I'll download the latest ones and try it. Any ideas about it crashing during the memory diagnostic?

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit. Actually looking at my computer, I do have my RAM installed in A1 and A2 rather than A1 and B1, **** ........... (foolishness:o)

How big of a deal is that? reckon ive damaged the RAM?

yea, the system still reads 4 gigs of ram. i better put it i the right slots anyway. Do you guys think that it could be causing the problems with the games/streams aswell?

Your ram will be fine, you be running single channel instead of dual channel.

Have increased the ram voltage, this should be on the memory module along with the timings.

Suggest you go to amd.com and download the latest drivers for your GPU as well. I've just downloaded the updated drivers which 2 days ago were 10.2. Then re-check the resolution settings that you are using with that TV, in the CCC, as well. Certainly looks like a graphics based problem to me.

ATB :)

Ok, I have installed the latest graphics drivers, i'm gona power down in a few mins and put the ram into the correct slots, then I guess i'll play that terrible tom clancy hawks game I got free and see if it happens again. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I'll report back.
