Hi all

Ive got someone offering a good amount for my Ipod touch and i want to accept it by ending the auction early for him, but as far as i know, the bidder can only enter a maximum bid and not an actual bid at the agreed amount. What can i do, its a good offer but i cant seem to accept it without breaking the rules and trusting the bidder to pay the agreed amount at the paymnent stage.

thanks

Buzza

There are many factors to consider:
1) What is the buyers feedback like?
2) Where does the buyer want you to post it?
3) Is the amount the buyer offered too high above the average price for this item?

The best option would be to agree a price with the buyer, cancel your auction and get the buyer to either pay you by bank transfer (BACS) or PayPal gift. Also make sure you only post to the address mention in the PayPal email you receive after the payment has been made, and you check your PayPal account, in case said email is a fake.

dont take the money by bank transfer as you will have no come back whatsoever

as above

whats his feedback like?

if you have bid's on your item then your out of luck accepting his high offer.

what you could do is end the auction early and start another one with a buy it now for him.

the offer for the item is at the typical seeling price for the item, i think he just wants to get it asap, his feedback is 100 percent and hes willing to pay using paypal.

The only thing i can think of at the moment is to trust him to pay the amount at the payment stage, but that probably breaks the rules.

I can cancel the auction, but i would have to give a reason like its no longer for sale?

You have no protection out of ebay, so dont cancel the auction

Take the bank transfer (its the safest for you), as he cant claim the money back.
I have done it many times with high cost stuff off ebay.

If in doubt, let it run to end of auction, most bids go up in the last 30 mins

Or greed will be your downfall, and it may end in tears.

i would leave it running if you have 13 hours left.

by the time you set up a buy it now and he buys it it might have ended anyway.

i have ended auctions a few times due to someone wanting the item early and set up a buy it now price and everything went fine.

i have 100% with 500 feedback's.

13 hours left

why dont you just let it run

someone might even bid more then him and he might have to pay more to get it

why are you so keen to sell it to this guy, just let it run and the highest bidder win it

if thats him, then great

good point,i would let it run and see what happens,i could always bid on it for you if you want...hehehe.

The current bids at 115, so it could stay at that, but your right they do tend to shoot up near the end and it would be simpler. aaagh if only the bidder wasnt resticted to a maximum bid.

I know mate, im usually able to sell anything i have at work and use EBay as a last resort. I know about the fees but i dont have to like them :)

Thanks everyone for your advice, i think ill let it run and chances are, his bid win anyway.

Two people offered this to me when I sold something a couple of weeks ago. I ignored them and it sold for higher than the price they offered.
