Jaguar XF problem -Xenon lights

Xenons and washers aside though, I'd just like to point out that my 10 year old 5 series, with halogen lights has headlamp washers :p ...for that matter so did my Mondeo.

I hate headlamp washers. It's like urinating in the ocean if the lenses are THAT dirty, I get a face-full of washer fluid (smells like I have been drinking) and it wastes it!

I should get around to pulling the fuse for them sometime :D

That's because they are supposed to be aimed at your lights not your face :p

Just a quick update.

Initially they insisted that Xenons had been fitted to the car, until we pointed out that without washers (must be auto levelling and wash facility) it wasn't legal and may fail an MOT 3 years down the line.

They have now admitted that they have not fitted Xenons and have just fitted brighter bulbs. Full xenons on the jag also feature the follow round corners thing.

Now awaiting what they plan to do to correct the problem.

The Bosch glow control unit is not a ballast.

Thanks for help.

So for £310 they fitted some Xenon Halogen bulbs? Classic!

For some reason the E60 doesn't have washers or Xenons as standard . The pre-LCI's had normal reflectors for both normal beam and high beam, but the LCI's have a projector for normal beam and a reflector still for high beam.

Sounds like a step backwards?

What most people do if they want to retro-fit Xenons is either buy a HID kit and fit it in the projector normal beams, or buy a whole Xenon light cluster (with dual projectors) and fit two HID kits in it.

Your posts never fail to confuse me - why is it a step backwards?

I'm confused too now!

Eh?

Moeks said that the ten-year old model has headlamp washers, and I said that the newer model doesn't have headlamp washers.

Sounds like a step backwards to me?

Only the E39 530i upwards had headlight washers as standard. I'm guessing that it was similar on the E60, so the people with 520d's etc don't get them ;)

Oh right, I'm pretty sure it's only the M5 that got Washers or Xenons as stock, but my BMW knowledge isn't at Fox level™...

530i's certainly came with headlight washers as standard, in the same way that the 8 cylinder cars had electric seats as standard but the 6 cylinder cars didn't.

Only the M5 had Xenons as standard.
