They don't seem to be worth the paper they're written on, do they?

I admit to not voting, or particularly caring who gets in. It seems to me that pre-election promises are simply there to get elected, after that anything goes.

How did we get to have a system which is so open to abuse? All this media frenzy about who's going to do what, and no legal obligation for any of them to do what they say.

The BBC was in my area yesterday interviewing the plebs on the street. I had a chance to be on TV (local TV, lol), but politely declined. I don't honestly see the point in having anything to do with politics, since there seems to be such a huge disconnect between the people in power, and the people electing them. The whole system to me appears so crooked that we literally have no say in anything that happens.

Judging by recent history, this is exactly correct.

How did we get to have a system which is so open to abuse? All this media frenzy about who's going to do what, and no legal obligation for any of them to do what they say.

Paraphrasing Douglas Adams: the people who want power are the least suited to actually having it.

The whole system to me appears so crooked that we literally have no say in anything that happens.

:(

Perhaps we need a spoilt vote campaign. Every disallusioned voter votes but writes "none of the above" on the ballot. "none of the above" would be swept into power in a wave of apathy.

I remember the 97 manifesto. They actually had a card printed to say to call them up on it. I wonder if anyone still has one?

EDIT - Fair dues, they met there targets!
