Not sure on the gfx card to be honest, but if there are any other more suitable HP recommendations that would be great.

/edit from HP:
Graphics
ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 (Integrated Graphics)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 (Discrete Graphics) with 512 MB dedicated video memory

I've just learned that it will be used for a HD cam corder in the near future so I'm wondering if this laptop is any good now.

"Back to the laptop/notebook – it seems that this will be used by someone we support with a camera that records onto dv tapes and I am advised that we will need firewire. However we will also be purchasing a new video camera which will record in hd and so we will need a large capacity hard drive."

Thanks :)

I'd say no due to the fact that to edit full HD you need Quad core, older core 2 variant or Core i5 but i7 would be the best option.

If it HP your after HP Pavilion DV7 would be worth a look

I work with A professional video filming and editing company and all our PC's that edit HD are Quad Core i7, but take a look at recommended spec for the Adobe Premier software and bear in mind that a Laptop is never as powerful as a desktop, CPU and GPU needs to be considered.

Can some suggest a specific model number for this? I'm being told the budget can stretch to almost £1000 but it must be a laptop.

£850 sounds good!
