Hi guys,

I've just ran into problems with my PC and producing. It's probably mainly down to the fact that I have 1gb of DDR RAM in it...

The current processor is based on Intel's Dual Core Smithfield chipset (2.8Ghz), which I also think needs upgrading - to either a quadcore or i series chip.

My DAW is Fruity Loops XXL 9 Producer Edition and I've got a host of VSTS including Nexus, Sylenth1, Vanguard, Omnisphere and z3ta.

Obviously having this amount of softsynths on 1gb RAM is going to cause me problems and I'm getting glitches, and pauses at various moments throughout my current track.

Question is, what should I buy? I've already got a case for it and a 28" Widescreen TFT so I just need the bare essentials:

Motherboard
Memory
Sound Card - my current soundcard is an Audigy 2 Platinum but I've had a few niggly problems with this and I'm sure there is a soundcard better suited for my producing.
Processor - should I go for Intel or AMD? I've heard Intel would be better for producing. Also memory wise how much should suffice, 8gb? I'd obviously want to go 64bit cpu wise.

i5 750 would be good from the DAW benchmarks I've seen.

The i7s are better, but not by enough to make the extra cost worth it. Unless cost isn't too much of an issue of course :)
Although looking at prices now, the 750 seems to have gone up by £20! So it really depends on budget.

But one of those CPUs + 4GB RAM and you should be good to go.
