I'm looking for a new car and my friend is selling his R reg clio for £900. It has just over 20,000 miles, do you guys think i should go for it?

cheers

20,000 miles? Woah, that's pretty low on an R reg car.

Is it chavved up?

well depends how you define "chav" :) theres a newly fitted induction kit and exaust.

Checked the mileage on the MOT database?

how would i go about as to find this?

Which gaskets had to be replaced?

to be honest with you i dont even know what a gasket is lol, but il find out

thanks for all the replies!

Sounds like the current owner is a teenage chav, on a tight budget.

I would never buy a car that has been modded by the previous owner*

*Unless it is something special like a modded Evo or Skyline, but thats a whole different matter.

I agree. There is "modding on a budget" (crap alloys, exhaust, induction kit) and then there is proper modding (expensive genuine alloys, superchargers, proper exhausts)

Did R reg Clios have a 5 digit trip? Could be 120,000 (or even 220,000) with the first digit missing (I had an L Reg Fiesta that went to 0 miles one day :))?
