Asus 5850 + oc = forthewin

What this guy said.

Maybe.... maybe not.... I got my eyes set on a 5970 but now things are starting to rear up from the Nvidia corner I think the monsterous Nvidia marketing machine is going to wake up soon.... I will hold out on my 5970 and see what happens....

This isn't official, for all we know the author could just be guessing and not even have sauce.

Everything we have been hearing for ages now suggested that the SPs would be cut down from 512 and there would be no hope of a dual-GPU card. And people... don't get too excited about prices, you ain't gonna be paying that come launch. :)

I second this, though I have no real idea what you really mean. I just love Jamaican food.

Considering the wattage and expected performance, those prices are still a bit high for it to be worth considering, especially as an SLI upgrade path for most people will involve a new PSU. Not saying that the ati cards aren't power hungry, they are, but nowadays it's about improving efficiency, not making beastly cards. I think that's where things will have to go.

At this moment in time them balls taste real good ;) I hope NV do crucify all the doubters/haters and bring out cards that rock big time, it looks unlikely but you never know.

Well if they're good it will benefit everyone, as ATI will then have to up their game and maybe reduce prices. Competition is always good for the consumer.

The 9800GX2 was 400 squids on release though, I paid 380 for mine about a week later, then a month later they were much less, closer to 300 lest we forget... people have such short memories.

There was a certain place selling 5870's for under £250 delivered brand new yesterday. The 480 will be what 5-10% faster and cost almost £500? Just lol.

I've never owned an ATI card but come summer I may hunt around for my first one.

I love the look, its big and beafy, love the way it shows its heatpipes! only if they where gold

Price wise. I can afford a 470 :D i can power a 470 :D a 470 will fit in my case :D if it is £279 INC vat well...i expect OCUK to beat that ? :) i bet there will be cheaper models. Maybe some down to £250 ?

hey baby...show me your heat pipes ;)

i found it interesting that Custom PC mag were telling people to hold off buying a card, in both their "crazy" and "performance" PC speccs.
so seeing as they were planning to review the card this issue, im guessing they think it's worth waiting for...

The Nvidia Dragon starts to smoke with one eye open it's about to wake from its long slumber....

Personally I don't like ATI drivers hence never bought ATI's but now Nvidia taken a hit but more competition is good for my pocket....
