Im wondering will i see much of a performance gain by changing from my current gtx 275 to an ati 5870, been playing a bit of bfbc 2 and the gtx is a bit sluggish. Resolution im playing at is 1920x1200, rest of my rig is.

i7 920 DO
Asus p6t deluxe v2
6gb ocz reaper 1600mhz c7
benq fp241w 24" lcd
corsair hx 850w psu

Considering selling the gtx 275 to help pay for the upgrade.

Should see good gains across the board - 5870 is almost as fast as GTX275 SLI - I'd get shot of the 275 ASAP before they depreciate with the Fermi launch as everyone tries to sell their 200 series cards.

Hold your horses, let's see what price and performance fermi brings to the table in over a weeks time, if it's not so hot then yeah a 5870 will be a big boost over a 275 and will certainly bring smooth gameplay to BC2.

+1 for getting the 275 on the bay or MM ASAP.

Cheers Rroff, really dissapointed with the 275, not as good as the 280 gtx that it replaced, never got to try the 280 with bfbc2, but in all other games ive played, the 275 is definitely slower.

Weird - I have a pair of GTX260 SoC that are slightly faster than a stock GTX275 and even without SLI I can't really fault the performance.

It must have been all in your head the performance differential between the 275/280, they are basically identical apart from the memory and I doubt you were maxing that out.

I Have near same spec.

My 275 don't run this game well at all. i tried sli, and it was so much better.
Only problem is, in DX 10, it don't give you 100% AA in bfc2.
I also tried a 5870 @ 1920 x 1200 max setting, DX 11 of course.
and that looked and run exellent.

I played the game on my mates pc, using his Asus 5850 clocked @ 5870 spec. and that was also exellent.

playing on the 5850 & 5870 side by side, both clocked, on single 28" monitor, you would not see any difference playing games in the real world.:D
The 5870 is great card, but i just think it's a wast of extra money over a asus 5850 clocked. :p

What's the temps of your 5870 whilst playing it? i got a gtx275 but thinking of going a 5870 very soon maybe this friday even or 5850 crossfire.(not sure if my corsair 650w would handle it though and my antec 902 case.)

Also what 5870 did you get? you playing 1920x1200 with 8xaa too?
