Complete change of heart - new priorities, new spec me

so a vectra C 2.0T Sri in a party frock.

definately a sideways step, as its built on the same GM epsilon platform that was introduced in 2002 and definately the same generation as your current car. but as long as your happy. You obviously had an itch to change.

I'm not overly bothered what platform it's built on - the most important thing is it feels like a decent upwards step - the interior is much nicer and better equipped and its definitely a better engine :)

Will probably leave it standard initially, but the decent tuning options mean future itches can be scratched relatively easily :) Watching this happy chappy with his BSR tuned 9-3, looks good!

The problem with the Mondeo is that although you can get more power relatively easily, it's asking for reliability issues...

Haha probably best :)

Apparently they're suprisingly good on fuel too. Been eyeing up all the shiny Hirsch trim bits you can buy too

Main dealers did a 10 day free trial Hirsh remap at one time, not sure if thats still going.

The interior looks alright to me, better than a Mondeo or Vectra interior anyway, what I don't like is the gear selector design, it looks like ...well it looks like something you might find hanging at the back of an Anne Summers shop.

It's a step up in quality from Ford/Vauxhall etc, but I think the style is a bit marmite - I love it personally. Might get some alu trim for the top half to brighten it up a bit though.

I really wish you hadnt said that about the gear selector - the thought hadnt crossed my mind but now it's all I'll be able to think of :(

I'm sorry but that is hideous, inside and out. You're insane :D

Quite probably :p

Here seems as good a place as any to ask - this is the first auto I'll have owned, what's the general procedure for stuff like hill starts? When should I be using park and when should I use the handbrake? Should it be in neutral or park when the handbrake is on? Probably seems really obvious to a lot of you!

When your hand break is on it should be in Park (unless you have a specific reason to use neutral) as Park locks the gearbox and will stop the car from moving at all, better than the handbrake will in many cases, neutral does not so without the brake the car will role when in neutral. Hill starts are dead easy, just put it in drive release the brake and go. The car should creep forward when in drive without any throttle, although it probably won't do that on a steep hill. Only put the car into park when sitting in traffic for a long time, otherwise for general driving you just leave it in Drive.

Don't bother with the handbrake, the car holds itself in Park. The only time I ever use the handbrake is on a really steep slope. Otherwise I never use it.

It won't roll backwards on a hill so just put it into Drive and drive away.

Lol at this thread.

Thanks for your input

Cheers guys :)

Presumably handbrake should still be used when parked?
