Film: "Knowing" - Can someone explain what I just watched?

What was the entire point of the sheet of paper predicting catastrophes for 50yrs, considering it's about a bunch of aliens taking children to survive the destruction of the world? Were they able to predict things - would seem so, but really explained? Why go to such ridiculous contrived lengths (over 50yrs) just to snatch come kids? Just pinch them the night before the event?

Almost as ridiculous as Cage's "Next"...

ps: Why did the space ships need to many rotating flippy flappy bits going around and around and up and down? What ever happened to just door opening? :)

Binary opinion alert! :rolleyes:

I actually thought the first half/third of the film was pretty good. The latter third seemed to get very confusing though.

That said, here I am talking about it and asking questions, so at least it's thought provoking!

I really enjoyed it :) I haven't read the Wiki link further up the page.

My interpretation was that the aliens were an ancient race who originally brought humans to earth thousands of years ago. These aliens were aware of a pattern which gradually led to mankind being destroyed, I'm sure there's a theory like this out there somewhere.

Uh now you come to mention it I'm not particularly sure of why they chose to communicate this through the mother's mother (child in the beginning) or why her daughter/THE CAGE's son were saved. Meh I think I just liked the idea of the human race carrying on somewhere else in the Universe, I'm off to read the wiki :p

edit: seems like there isn't an explanation why those people were chosen, I guess they were just lucky :confused: bit crap.

The fact that Nicholas Cage played a leading role should have been warning enough that this film was a dud.

see dont you find that nic cage is always acting in the same way every movie.. its like hes the same character.. and not much emotion.. after all he did play a what.. 30 year old or somit in ghost rider..

I agree. You could copy/paste his characters back and forth across his different movies and I doubt anyone would notice the difference.
