Brand new 5770/driver issues :(

Hi,
Recently brought a new ATI Sapphire 5770, yay :P along with a new system.

Got everything setup correctly and was going well.

Until the installation of ATi drivers, they installed fine and asked to reboot and sure enough i did, however booting back in i got a BSOD just after the windows logo with this:

"atikmpag.sys"

being displayed as the culprit of the problem.

To get back into normal operating system i have to go into safe mode, uninstall the drivers from device manager and then that allows me to get into windows 7 normally.

I have tried several different 10.2 suites (download sources), once it allowed me to get into W7 normally but was dead slow graphically.
I have also tried the 10.3a driver and again no luck just a the same BSOD.

Some initial googleing shows it is a hardware error, but the RAM is fine and also the same with the hard drive this just leaves the GPU.

Also i dont know if this is normal without the drivers, it says it is "Standard VGA Display Output" or something similar in device manager. In cpu-z it says it is a 5770 and GPU-z shows "Standard VGA Display Output" but has all the info about the card listed.

Can anyone shed some light on this frustrating problem?

Or is it RMA time?

Thanks.

.net version up to date and what was that other thing, eh, CC+ or Vc+, remember reading something about those files being missing and causing problems. May be way off the mark there, not sure.:)

Yeah i thougth about that and couldnth find any info about it and during installation of the drivers it installs some other software so i would rule that out.

this is a very general error and indicates a multitude of faults including cpu, memory, overclock and bad windows installation...

I have read through that, but there is no problems with the CPU and isnt even overclocked, memory i have tried each stick on their own and done memtest on them.
I have also reformatted 3 times with a verfied windows 7 disk.

grr i hate this problem :(

Update: Taken out the 5770 and put a Nvidia 880gts 320MB and working faultless currently so looks like hard ware issue and RMA time.
