Hi,

I have never heard of these before but after looking at some youtube vids and reviews they seem to be really cool. I'm tempted to get some but wanted to post here first to see if anyone else had used these and see what they think.

I game with my "big light" off and a lamp on behind me, with these I feel it will add to my gaming experience, I dunno though.. am I being taken over by the marketing of these things?

Hi mate,

Overall i think it's a good product but has many niggles and issues. I have a set myself and think they're very good. Sound quality is pretty good for pc speakers (i assume you're looking to get the speaker versions) however setting these up is a right pig. I haven't checked if they have released windows 7 drivers yet but i basically had to bodge it. The lighting is very good, when doing work late i just whack on some lighting plus they adjust in games for example if you're in an area where it's primarily jungle they'll go green etc. Overall i'd say a good 3.5/5 but only due to setting up issues and a few other niggles other than this they're fine.

Oh they are also directly controlled from your pc, so you cannot have your pc volume up at 100% and speakers down for example. Another issue is that i didn't receive enough cables. luckily i have kettle leads all over the place so was no real problem. Might have just been where i bought them from however.

If you have any questions fire away.

Thanks for the info, I'm just get the lighting set. I use my Fatality Headset for gaming so don't need speakers.

Having read their forum the new drivers/software they released work fine with Win 7 64bit now. Wha games have you played with these? Have you tried Bad Company 2?

the whole clan im in tried these out at a LAN demo booth. I thought they were "ok" as did most of the clan, my clan leader came out going "ahhhh i kicked all your asses" to which we asked what he thought about the ambx stuff, and his reply was.....

"what ambx stuff?"
at which point we pointed out why we were in the booth playing quake 3 and he said

"meh, didnt even notice them, cared about lack of chair, but i thought we were just there because it had quake"

Unfortunately i don't get as much time to game as i used to, only games i've used these for are CSS and DOW2, they don't seem to work properly on AC or bioshock 2 however like i said i have bodged on drivers that i cba to sort right now. If you don't need these for speakers and are just looking to buy the light package i'd say waste of money. It's like 50 quid for the lights but cost me 80 or so for the speaker set.

lol you do have a point here, it's really not that noticeable in gaming. It's nice for a bit of mood lighting when doing work and if you can get it working on films it's good for this too. Gaming you wont notice as you'll have your head embedded in the monitor.

I guess it could be pretty good for movies. The idea was good for gaming as well, using fans etc to simulate wind and stuff, flashing red when you got hit etc. But with the advent of eyefinity and the like, monitor > bit of single colour light lol

I can get he lights starter kit for £25, surley thats worth it. Also take a look at these youtube vids, I think it works well with games:
