Man gets a divorce, wins Lottery the next day.

HA HA HA get on! Im stoked for the bloke, I dont care what caused the marriage to fail, its one in the eye for the ex wife lol!

I would crack up if she came back crawling begging she was sorry and wants to re-marry and he told her where to go lol.

Divorced by any chance?

I would throw the small change in my pocket at her feet, walking away shouting "have a happy life you ****" while giving her the bird.

Ex-wife Helen said: "We are the best of friends. In fact, we get on better now than when we were married.

What she meant to say was, “I hate you, you ****ing *******, hope you get run over by a bus.” ;)

Ha ha, yeah, it'd be impossible to live the rest of your life with 2 million in the bank. You wouldn't get 6 figures a year from interest or anything.

Why would you need six figures a year to live a comfortable life?

It's not like you're going to go on 5 star holidays every month, buy anew car every 6 months and maybe a holiday pad every other month in another country oh and a jetski for you and everyone is it?

I know I could live a comfortable life with 2 million, a half decent house, a half decent car and the rest of my time devoted to my own business which would bring in the rest of the cash while the remainder of the winnings sit in some sort of investment and savings.

A half decent house in a reasonable area. That'll be £500k please, a nice holiday home in a decent location (perhaps slighly secluded with its won pool), that'll be another £500k. A couple of decent cars, lets not go too over the top, say a rangerover and an M3/5, that'll be up to another £150k...

So that's more than half your money gone before you blink... Before you have any holidays...:p

Having said that I wonder if it would be better to get all of that through morgages, spreading the cost over 20-30 years... Although I doubt it.

But my question was why would you need to overspend (and require a 6 figure yearly income from interest or whatever) ?

I mean I can understand you just won the Lotto and you'd want to spend xyz as soon as possible but why would you want many cars instead of 2 nice cars like a nice saloon for driving the family and then a nice roadster for fun-runs? The total cost would be no more than 100K (A smart 5 series + Z4M for example).

And not everyone would need a holiday home either but you can always hire such places out anyway surely?

My view is unless I won tens of millions then a big house, nice car or two and the rest on making sure myself and my family can live comfortably and have the future sorted out is the order of the day. No need to live like a Spice Girl and be all flash about it!

Put it in a savings account, at 3% interest that's 30,000k per year (per million). Tax free i believe. So you never have to work again, you can do what you want to and have the other million to spend on stuff.

That rangerover would be a complete waste of money, unless you own 10 kids or have a farm its pointless in my opinion.

Living a better than decent lifestyle plus some annual interest, 2 million would set me up for a long time.

Screw the ex-wife

We live on £30k combined a year with mortgage and 2 cars. The interest from that would more than cover 30k a year I'd hope and thus we could at least double our earnings. Not a bad proposition really.

Depends who you ware. Do you want to live your life now then do so, if you want a comfortable steady stream.. do that. Winning 2m is nothing to snub at whatsoever. Winning 20k so I could renovate my house (shed) would be more than enough for me.
