My wife needs some good films, films that I wouldn't mind watching. She has pretty bad taste to an extent at least, and is constantly on the prowl for the next chick-flick.

The thing is, I can't stand 90% of these films (the same as most blokes, I'm sure).

I can't think of many non-action films that are suitable, certainly nothing gangster-esque. We've enjoyed films like The Very Long Engagement, Amelie, Gran Torino (not a womany film, granted, but she enjoyed the story). Studio Ghibli stuff always goes down well too.

What films have you and your partner enjoyed? I'm a Pacino/De Niro fan, she likes whatever has an annoying and predictable storyline.

SPEC AWAY!!

Perhaps it's time to wean her off "womany" films?

Here's a list of movies that my wife and I have enjoyed together:

Dorian Gray
Le Pacte des Loups
Memento
Sleepy Hollow
The Others
Wag the Dog
Ratatouille
A Series of Unfortunate Events
El Orfanato
Kontroll
Magicians
The Illusionist
The Prestige
Pleasantville
The Abandoned
Triangle
Tummien Perhosten Koti

They're not "womany" films (mostly thrillers and dramas) but I reckon you could give them a go.

Memento
Sleepy Hollow
The Others
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Pleasantville

Seen those, and AFAIR, enjoyed them all. I'll have a look at the others you've suggested and see what I can pick up.

Cheers!

Stardust is quite a good all-rounder.

We've watched Stardust, pretty good. I think she liked it more than I did though!
